I had an online friend who turned out to be Varg fan who advocated for downshifting because "civilization bad makes wars, way to piece is live like OG humans", he was real angry with my argument that there was always conflict, people just didn't write it down before writing was there. We have archeological evidence for weapon wounds in prehistoric burials. Very easy to claim a perfect utopia that left no traces while pointing out flaws in civilization simply because people pointed them out to make life better. This is how dictatorships work, BTW: they highlight protests in democratic countries and silence their own, so if you only judge how bad it is by amount of people protesting, EU is way worse than North Korea.

Or, you know, a WHEEL. Or an iron tool... It's surprising for how advanced in crop tech and terrace building civilizations missed technologies that way more primitive civs in Eastern hemisphere had. Who the hell develops advanced calendar and math with concept of zero without even entering bronze age? It's almost like, technology progression isn't like in videogames.

It's very easy to deflect criticism by making beliefs as vague is possible, that's why flat-Earthers don't have a map or sun moving system they agree upon... same with witnesses of Atlantis, if you debunk one model they switch the goalposts and claim it they never shared that specific view that you just destroyed. And the "Dedunking" guy seems disingenuous, deliberately playing dumb in a "I didn't SAY it were aliens, but..." manipulative way. Definition of "manipulation" in psychology is making the person think they came to the conclusions you want them to come to on their own instead saying what you want outright... they're not saying outright, but shifting people towards accepting their views in a very obvious way... Their whole cult is gaslighting people by downplaying the level of crazy: "we never claimed X, it's YOU who came to conclusion of X that after watching our videos of winks and nudges".

Personally, I think the myth is heavily inspired by general real cataclysms – similar how unrelated cultures have great flood myths, this is just Greek version of that, with knowledge that Minoans and Mycenaeans. "Man build tower, man arrogant, man cast down" and washed away... Stories retold to avoid making the same mistakes people always did. That is the point, not underwater loot! For this reason I don't see a point "finding the Exodus Pharaoh", he's not named for a reason... that's not the point of the story, fighting back against oppression and freeing slaves is. I find this extremely relatable, there's always SOME tinpot "pharaoh" who'd rather sacrifice his country's first born sons than stop invading... yeah, it's very applicable to any anti-colonial movement.

What, you can't hold two contradicting beliefs at the same time? Amateur! There was ancient hi-tech civ with diamond cutters and laser beam equipment, hoverboards to put stones and hydraulic cranes from their spaceships running on unobtainium, but all they left are stone age structures made of... only stones.
