@mikesmovingimages Star Wars religion is a mix of Methodist Christianity that George Lucas grew up with and Mahayana Buddhism he was interested in. Force ghosts are similar to bodhisattvas, and Jedi orders are warrior monks, yet Anakin is saved right on his deathbed, which is the penitent thief story. Luke refusing to answer evil with evil (so he doesn't fall to Dark Side) is also a Christian teaching, and resisting temptation is both.

@NoCommentForAWhile how so? I think it's more fun researching works and philosophies used as inspiration for media.

 @robertt9342 Greeks and Romans did it with their deities, originally they had completely separate pantheons but syncretized them heavily later.
