  2. Baba is not diminutive, it's derogatory. Baba - hag, bitch, wench. It refers to all women regardless of age. Granny would be babusia in Ukrainian or babushka in russian, both these words actually have a dimunituve suffix. (Baba is just a root, words without suffixes are not dimunitive in Slavspeak). For example, Yagashechka would be dimunitive for Yaga. Or Rinusik for Rina.

So lazy he enchanted the stove to move so he won't have to get up. Or even here the Vasilisa is a bimbo who's pretty but incredibly stupid and so lazy she has a doll do all of her work. All heroes in russian tales are morally repugnant.
