Remember next time an imperialist country pushes the narrative of "evil nationalists", nationalism is the main method for liberating people from Empires: without national unity, the old divide and conquer wins. Now when nationalism is combined with imperialism itself instead of a national-liberation movement, then it's bad. That's why British nationalism looks much worse than Welsh, and why Ukrainian nationalists are good guys and russian ones are bad. Ones want freedom from Metropoly, others want to force smaller countries to become their colonies (again, in case of neocolonialism).
