  1. They ARE modern mythology. You even have regional rival Marvel and DC myths in USA, then there's manga and manhwa with their own tropes and nuances etc.

  2.  @StudyofSwords  at least Jung accepted that not everything came from Greeks, which was a problem in Helleno-centric Freud. THAT SAID, Freudian interpretations of human psyche that took myths as symbolic representations of unconscious fears and desires, moved psychology forward more than anything else in history, while Jungian research has very little practical application outside of media, like you said, i.e. Assassin's Creed having Animus and stuff.
