5 versions of the same car is normal for Gran Turismo lol. Look at Skyline lineup or 3 EXACT same Mazda models PER YEAR that's not even counting dupes like Hondas and Acuras lmao. Or every Mitsu GTO having a GT3000 clone. xD

TBH in first NFS Undeground, first one that had separate drift races, a drifting powerslide through corners gives you style points but greatly reduces your speed compared to classic braking and turning. Was actually surprised replaying it now, it's literally more effective to powerslide in Gran Turismo than in Need for Speed Underground... later games tho, yeah. xD

Cars exploding when flipped over is a Hollywood thing, it was parodied to death at this point.

Weird cause NFS Underground, first one to introduce NOS, actually had it labeled properly AND shoot up smoke to the sides too. Turbo was a separate upgrade. Gran Turismo explains turbo lag, naturally aspirated and supercharger engines well, plus has events separate for those types so you kinda have to learn both, like in GT6 you can run Lambo Aventador for NA races but earlier needed some muscle car or, generally weaker, non-turbo versions of tuner cars.

Cadillac are known worldwide, and since old people didn't have them here, an old Cadillac was generally someone younger getting a lot of money for a fun car.

Games had tires wear down fast not because the algorithm was too simple, they could still make a reslitic time frame for tire wear with simplest computations, problem was that races in games take 2-3 laps usually, and 5+ laps means "endurance" races. Hell, latest Gran Turismos replaced 24 hour races with 24 minute ones.... You know, kinda like football games have 10-minute periods or something. So they adjusted tire wear for shorter races.

Nissan Zs are way cooler than Porsches, the midlife crisis cars... Well, could do worse than your cool Japanese car being mistaken for a boring EU import Porsche, at least it's not seen as a BMW, ultimate "post-menopause men" stereotype.))) Unless you're in America and somehow mistaken that European cars are better than Japanese?
