  1. Because Renaissance is more of a movement of restoring the antiquity in Europe than a precise historical era, where Late Medieval period was followed by Early Modern. Remember, the height of Italian Renaissance happened around the same time Medieval English and French were busy burning witches (Leonardo and other ninja turtles lived in the same century that Joan of Arc was set on fire.)
