  1. It's more like they're... business partners. Maduro guarantees that Venezuela won't export most of their oil so the prices stay up and russia has a monopoly. The most horrible regimes and wars, like Assad's butchery in Syria are all about oil and gas trade. I.e. war in Syria is to disallow Kuwait to build a pipeline which would have put out russian Gazprom out of business. And dictators sacrifice thousands, millions of their people - all for putin's dirty money.
