Reminds of that pastor who claimed the 8 year old boy "seduced" him. Temptation, satan, demons, that's all in your head. The whole point about temptation stories, is about men picking up responsibility for ONCE instead of pulling an Adam with his "ShE MaDe Me Do It".

@RogersMgmtGroup Gospels tell a really simple story, so do some Old Testament books as long as you don't get into those long chapters with just names.and numbers. Story of Exodus is my favorite, it's very straightforward and doesn't really need different interpretations... Jonas is my fav of.thw prophets dude just didn't want the job.

Anyone claimed that it's anything but a fork of Judaism, just accepting the Gospels and admitting non-Jews? You literally have Old and New Testaments to divide that.

This. Church holiday calendars literally used to say 25th Dec (7th Jan), this was for ALL days same way they said 14th Jan (1 Jan), and we celebrated "old style New Year" at 14th, not a religious holiday. Now Ukrainian church updated calendars and there's no more two dates I think.

Looks pretty ridiculous BTW, it was a loophole to enter church when you don't have a scarf at hand, but the only thing you'd get without it is mean looks from old ladies so it's better just to avoid that nonsense and not worry about it.

@Exiled.New.Yorker Nothing about ritual cleanliness, everything about prejustice. Modern version: a guy lays injured on the way to a church. A Pastor, a Monk, and a Muslim pass by. Only the Muslim helps. Who is his neighbor? Obviously the Muslim. Yes, it talks about religious/social, not ethnic division... Because nationalism wasn't a thing back then, nation states didn't exist (it's an early modern invention), people identified by their culture or religion. That's it! That's the common interpretation and whoever described Samaritans as separate ethnicity just simplified it but didn't change the meaning. Hell, you can find modern Americans who think Islam is a race, so the point still stands.

Yes it's also ridiculous to equate something made by pagans to be a pagan tradition. Is cooking pagan? Sewing clothing? Tons of stuff pagans did were secular. By this logic cars, fridges and lightbulbs are Christian because they were invented by Christians like no. Gunpowder was ACTUALLY invented as part of Taoist religious practices but nobody in their right mind claims it is a Taoist tradition, lol, or distilling spirits an Islamic one.

No, there won't be a global FLOOD right now, just basically an end to climate as we knew it. It was happening long ago and all you did was to laugh at the Swedish girl... who was right now? This summer set all records in heat. Flood story is a metaphor, but oil companies are totally making it a reality right now.

One good example is how holidays adopted locally and palm Sunday which IS directly based on Bible scene is "verba Sunday" in Eastern Europe because we don't have many palm trees in Ukraine. So we use violet yew, aka verba, the tree used in Balkans to hoist Serbs traditionally.

Bible is literally full of metaphors and no sane Christian claims that parable of the sower, for example, is about agriculture... Also, my country was living under atheist laws, my mother didn't like it back then, you couldn't freely travel FROM Soviet union, so you didn't see how other people lived. Because anyone who was in this horrible Christianity ridden degenerate West didn't want to go back to the atheist heaven under russia's thumb for some reason.

Note that churches that follow old calendar consider it being 25th of December (church calendar), it just corresponds to 7th of January (secular calendar. Specifically in Ukraine our church calendars used to say TWO dates, a regular one and church one, with 14 day difference. So Christmas wasn't on 7th January, it was still 25th December BUT on Julian calendar. Most people get confused with that.

No, the world won't just flood completely, but it will have other cataclysms, like heat waves RIGHT NOW, tornadoes, quakes, or climate anomalies like snow in summer. ALL because of men's folly. Look at russia, it's burning, flooding and having locust swarms... for funnier event, they had worshipers at military temple of war struck by lightning. Of course our Ukrainian drones can do God's will and help. But the climate? Thanks to ExxonMobil, Total, BritishPetroleum and Lukoil... No sane person would defend oil companies, regardless of your beliefs and political stance. There's a saying "after us, the deluge". This is what the story is about. Most Orthodox churches already updated calendar too so it's 25th on both. It was only ever 7th Jan in the secular calandsr,.but church considered it 25th Dec.
