@jacoosacoon118 Yeah, and that's actually how it worked in Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Except government was the one corporation. Unless you were employed in official author's guild, you were not allowed to be an artist, and would be arrested for "speculation" and "non-labor income" if you tried to sell your work and were caught. And musicians had to either play approved material by government-sanctioned authors after being hired by the state, or work day jobs and play as amateurs in "kvartitnik" illegal concerts, else they were jailed for "parasitism".

@jacoosacoon118 the trademarks laws ARE all about assumptions. If you make Mikey Mauser character Disney is trademark suing you, despite a Google search revealing that's not the right spelling.

@brianeleighton they're called "eponyms." Aqualung is one too! It was actually a brand (still is), and Jethro Tull legit didn't know it was the company making scuba diving gear. The band still has the rights to the eponymous song and album. And in general, in some countries we use the brand words for things: any scuba gear is an aqualung here, but copy-machine? Nah, not a word, we just call it "a Xerox," like you mentioned. A flush toilet? That's an Unitas, for the Spanish brand that was exporting them over a century ago. Pampers? This is how we call any disposable diapers. Jeep? Any off-road cars are just "jeeps". Hairdryer? A Fen. Felt-tip pens? It's a flo-master. Bath or hot tub with bubbles? That's a Jacuzzi. We also call Converse style sneakers "keds".
