@Chris-yy7qc the whole point of the movie was Riggs being also "too old for this shit", while Jet Li's character had amazing reaction time and skills of a pro assassin. IIRK, they only defeated him via drowning... after firing a whole mag of AK-47 into himchest... following impaling Jet Li's torso with a giant rusted metal thingy.

@armyboy0579 No, this is: "Harasho...good! You found a SOCOM. That's a Special Operations Command pistol. It's a .45 caliber pistol with plenty of stopping power. It's also equipped with a LAM (Laser Aiming Module) for nighttime combat. If you find a SOCOM suppressor, you can equip that, too. That pistol was designed specifically for use by special forces, so I think it will be useful. Some people find it a little heavy and hard to use, but it shouldn't be a problem for you." Easy to remember: if a quote starts from a Verka Serduchka song, it's likely by a Ukrainian))) HA-RA-SHO!

Goldfinger is ALL improvement, the original was written after Dr. No's success let Fleming lay off the editors, and the sheer amount of ridiculous author's filibusters against lesbians, or "Bond" being racist to Koreans, as well as his hilarious lack of knowledge in martial arts (Oddjob was described of being like one of three black belts in "the karate")... Movie writers had a huge job to adapt it to something watchable. Tho most other movies are worse than books, that's the exception.

@TrueFlameslinger in this video he says that the owner wasn't the one who rented, the guy who bought his liquidated stock did. So while creator earned some money on selling it, he did it after Pancor, the company, went bankrupt.

@Perozderic it's a misunderstanding, the plagitarism isn't that Kalashnikov copied StG's design in AK, but that Hugo Schmeisser WORKED for Kalashnikov in a concentration camp, and like with missiles, and everything else, the major engineering breakthroughs post-WW2 were because of German engineers both USA and USSR employed. Americans just... paid them, that's the main difference. So AK47 and STG44 are different guns but they have same constructor, even if he didn't get credited for the AK.

Open carry or concealed? XD
4
You do understand that they were made by the same guy? Hugo Schmeisser. He was captured by Soviets and forced to work under... well, Kalashnikov. AK is just next in line of the same German designer. Except done in a russian camp for PoWs.

...Доброго вечора, ми з України!
3
@3OO_BLK yup, it's like naming a maker "castle", "citadel" or "chateau". I will be surprised if the latter isn't some local wine brand.
3
@andrewdunn8778 oh that too, Fleming in author's notes was really proud of doing research on russia for "...with love", and had Felix Leiter explain to Bond why he shouldn't use the N-word, and then with Goldfinger threw all credit away with those ridiculous statements about Japan and Korea.
3
2:12 "perfectly adequate military rifle at the time" ...tell that to russian conscripts issued it now. DX
2
They were made by German engineers. Commissioned by Nazis and commies, yes. AK was my in camps for German prisoners of war, Kalashnikov was basically a warden overseeing PoWs like Hugo Schmeisser and his pals who made things the for Soviets.
2
I hope you go over more Bond films, the props are most interesting things in them!
2
Nah, the major insisted on using a revolver for long range, thankfully Fleming had sensibility to understand how outdated and impractical it would be.
2
@staringgasmask Kalashnikov being a weapon constructor is a Soviet myth. He was an uneducated peasant who simply got credit for overseeing a bunch of German prisoners of war, one of which was Hugo Schmeisser, yes. Notice how after Hugo died, Kalashnikov literally invented nothing. That's what russians (and later, Chinese) did, rip off someone's design while slapping a new label. AK is a Schmeisser model. Much like Chinese Abibas and NKIE sportswear.
2
No he suggested a revolver and Walther was a compromise.

Next Stinger? Plenty of reviews from Ukraine for that. With people as excited about it as Nastasha Romanenko: "In Afghanistan, the Mujahideen terrorized Soviet pilots with their U.S.-supplied Stingers. They were used to such effect that the Soviet Alliance was forced to overhaul its tactics. One of my favorite horror books is called Stinger, and my favorite cocktail is a Stinger. I guess you could say I've got a thing for Stingers. " Relatable, I named a cat Javelin, and most popular name right now in Ukraine is Bayraktar!
2
The full auto option is used for covering fire, one soldiers fires at russians while the others move through to another covering. Just to pin enemy down when the drone drops bombs or aims artillery at them.

@afd19850 I grew up with Brosnan but his movies are hit and miss. Both Dalton ones are perfect and hold up much better... Craig is better than both tho.
1
Yeah I see why this wasn't adopted, your supermutant squaddie Marcus' Vindicator minigun eats all ammo anyway.
1
I think they had a deal where movie makers were allowed to use the NAME, but no part of the story... Or was it Diamonds are Forever? Anyway, both were contractually obligated to not follow the books, which is a shame in case of Diamonds, my fav novel of Fleming's. Aka the one that's not sexist and treats SA survivor surprisingly respectfully and calls out Bond being a jealous buffoon.
1
@shootemup2223 anyone who cares so much what a bunch of slave owners thought disqualifies himself from any modern legal or moral discussion. Why do you care what the guy who raped an enslaved 14 year old envisioned? Founding Fathers would never accept black people or women having human rights so it's irrelevant what was their stance on guns.
1
@alexm566 a cheap American AK will still be better than the Soviet shit made by deported brown children in Siberia before they died from tuberculosis.
1
Why would you call it BeeAyArr, when it's so much better to just say BAR?! Like Cesaro/Sheamus tag team.
1
And people say sanctions work, eh? Western companies giving russian devs linked to their military schematics for weapons is some Lifboat shit, at this rate we'll see US arms makers singing that "ya srusski."
1
I heard one of reasons they weren't hot on optical rifles was that optics at the time would fog over or lenses covered with frost too much.
1
@vksasdgaming9472 M16 family is just better in general, it's more reliable, 5.56 is a better cartridge, and it actually hits things. See the video from Honor unit and Wolves in Bakhmut, the guy with M4 gets all frags. AK74 doesn't stand a chance.
1
...and now these rifles are what russian conscripts in Ukraine get.
1
People joke about SOCOM in MGS being just two rectangles but the Tomb Raider models are even worse, with some actual polygons on trigger guard and nowhere else.
1
@restey5979 ah yes, the famous anti-gun movie, Die Hard. Silly woke John McClayne insisting airport security is bad, there's no way someone in US would be able to hijack a plane... Or even worse, like in that John Carpenter movie, run it into Twin Towers... Unrealistic 90s propaganda!
1
@staringgasmask being iconic is not about effectiveness, but about - just that - being an icon, a symbol. AK vs M16 or M4 are THE assault rifles that people imagine when they hear the term.
1
@jehoiakimelidoronila5450 Ah yes, no russian troops crossing the Fulda gap because they were busy invading Moldova, Georgia, Chechnya, and then Ukraine. The ONLY russian russians aren't partying in Berlin now is Ukrainian blood. I give German government 5-7 minutes to proclaim unconditional surrender to russia and only that long because first 4 minutes would be them clearing their mouths from gargling on russian oil non-stop to actually speak.
1
Just say "the russia" from now on and we'll be even...)
1
Very underrated movie!

@straysheep4467 oh this thing, it gets worse, many games were removed from storefronts because licenses ran out, and you have old version of Doom and Tomb Raider Remasters suddenly patched to remove red cross from medpacks. I would hate for old games to be pulled off Steam because H&K called over some random SMG.
