Goldfinger is ALL improvement, the original was written after Dr. No's success let Fleming lay off the editors, and the sheer amount of ridiculous author's filibusters against lesbians, or "Bond" being racist to Koreans, as well as his hilarious lack of knowledge in martial arts (Oddjob was described of being like one of three black belts in "the karate")... Movie writers had a huge job to adapt it to something watchable. Tho most other movies are worse than books, that's the exception.

@andrewdunn8778 oh that too, Fleming in author's notes was really proud of doing research on russia for "...with love", and had Felix Leiter explain to Bond why he shouldn't use the N-word, and then with Goldfinger threw all credit away with those ridiculous statements about Japan and Korea.

I hope you go over more Bond films, the props are most interesting things in them!

Nah, the major insisted on using a revolver for long range, thankfully Fleming had sensibility to understand how outdated and impractical it would be.

No he suggested a revolver and Walther was a compromise.

@afd19850 I grew up with Brosnan but his movies are hit and miss. Both Dalton ones are perfect and hold up much better... Craig is better than both tho.

I think they had a deal where movie makers were allowed to use the NAME, but no part of the story... Or was it Diamonds are Forever? Anyway, both were contractually obligated to not follow the books, which is a shame in case of Diamonds, my fav novel of Fleming's. Aka the one that's not sexist and treats SA survivor surprisingly respectfully and calls out Bond being a jealous buffoon.

@restey5979 ah yes, the famous anti-gun movie, Die Hard. Silly woke John McClayne insisting airport security is bad, there's no way someone in US would be able to hijack a plane... Or even worse, like in that John Carpenter movie, run it into Twin Towers... Unrealistic 90s propaganda!
