Rasputin actually survived an earlier attempt on his life when he was knifed, as he was a huge, physically tough man, that probably contributed to poison being not potent enough, so the THIRD real murder of him worked, so for what it's worth, the historical three attempts on his life with different weapons were a thing. Rasputin was thrown into a river. As water was found in his lungs, people gossiped about him surviving the shot and drowning, which, again, while doubtful in this specific case - is not a fantasy scenario, as even a lethal gunshot won't necessarily kill outright. FINALLY, when they burned his body, the ligaments snapped and corpse twitched - now he was 100% dead at that point but it just looked to be creepy and demonic.

Their entire argument is basically claiming "Soviet man's burden", saying they somehow "civilized" us, savages, who had universities, cathedrals, and roads, centuries earlier than moscow. Look up history of Kyiv, Tashkent, Riga, Lviv, Vilnius, Dushanbe – all the major cities in countries they colonized at some point – how brainwashed someone has to be to claim that Bukhara was just wild fields before White Slavic Men brought it Lenin's lighbulb?

@kebbesan XBox vs PlayStation always surprised me. Since I am mostly a PC gamer, I don't see why people are arguing about essentially same consoles, the difference are a few exclusives that lock down, i.e. before recent Gran Turismo and Tekken were on PS, and Halo with Dead or Alive were on Xbox, but now almost everything gets ported so it's moot unless you're really about some specific exclusives (i.e. obscure Japanese mecha games).
But even then the console wars people are not arguing about GAMES on this or that platform but about things like power, or target demographics (this console is for KIDS/nerds/whatever)... and there's PC elitists who hold back tears when saying a PC with 2000$ graphics card can have same FPS as a $400 console.
Unfortunately, with PC gamers same cultism can be felt with Steam fans, who not only refuse to play on Epic or Origin on principle, but also try to actively campaign to rid Valve of competition, which is literally bad for consumers when monopolist doesn't have incentive to get better.

Firstly, mask prevents you from touching your face - unless you rub your eyes. Second, you are NOT supposed to keep wearing the gloves once you exit a store! Put them on, touch stuff, then either dispose or disinfect. My local supermarket literally has single-use gloves on entrance and a bin where you throw them before exiting, and disinfect with nearby free sanitizer...
The whole point is that you can TAKE OFF the gloves, and you cannot take off your arms unless you're a cyborg or something.) And any mask keeps spit from exiting you and covering everything around in germs, it protects OTHERS from you, as most infected don't feel any symptoms - you can be infecting people and not even know it. So be responsible and wear a mask and gloves in a public space like a bank or a shop. And if you use multi-use leather or rubber gloves, wash them with soap like you would your hands, or rub with alcohol solution.

And this is why movies like that are SO harmful! Look at them praising Navalny now, giving him Oscar too!!! the guy who literally made PSA movies telling russians to arm themselves to kill migrants "like cockroaches", and called to strikes on Georgian capital to "kill rodents".* Seriously, Alexei's entire career is being a leader of russian ultra-nationalists. But he's a "good Nazi" because he said "putin corrupt and steals from army". Same here, Hollywood keeps praising Schindler, Rommel, and von Stauffenberg, and always putting them as heroes and not any Jew, Pole or Ukrainian they killed. We are not considered to be worthy of sympathy, West is desperate for "good aryans". Always. The only movies about WW2 that did it right were Inglourious Basterds, with the ending engraving the forehead so the guy can't white wash his reputation later, like they ALL DID. Every russian soldier or Wagner merc should have the same treatment. Brad Pitt them all! Instead they're writing memoirs from Paris and Oslo, where they brag about their war crimes.
*Navalny apologizing for slipping an ethnic slur and "wishing he didn't use it" doesn't make him better, it makes him worse. He's 100% behind ethnic cleansing of non-white people in russia and Caucasus, he just wished he was less overt about that and used more euphemisms. I mean, what you expect from a guy whose entire message in his film about generals corruption was "build more bombs less palaces". Fuck no, every part of russian military budget that ended up embezzled offshore is a Ukrainian or Syrian child who LIVES.

They did. Two of the three ladies in Boney M, Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett, were actual lead singers (Maizie Williams didn't sing in the studio), but their guy, Bobby Farrell, was a lip-syncing dancer, yeah, and Frank Farian, the producer, did both some of the high-pitched back vocals, and the low male voice in most of their tracks. Specifically, he pulled a Milli Vanilli with just the guy in Boney M.

Changsha is famous in literature and Chinese media for the battle where Liu Bei sent his generals to defeat four regional leaders, as Guan Yu dueled a veteran general Huang Zhong (who on falling from a horse claimed it was the actually the animal that was too old)... They exchanged signs of honor after nobody could get the upper hand after having three duels, so the defending commander Han Xuan got really mad at Huang Zhong returning without victory, and tried to execute him for it... Enraged by that, another general, Wei Yan, killed Han Xuan and saved Huang Zhong, and they both swore loyalty to Liu Bei. Conquest of Changsha formed the base of a force that would later become the Shu Han kingdom, even though Liu Bei had to flee it soon and it became part of Wu, then Jin. But that's just one story from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a chapter of region's endless landmarks and legends.

Have you SEEN Greeks? Like, they are generally dark skinned. Tanned Mediterraneans, not pale Northern Europeans... basically, people from Balkans are Europe's equivalent to Latinos in America. While there are blonde people in Greece (and Slavs didn't exist back then, let alone migrate to Balkan peninsula), all contemporary images of Cleopatra show her having dark hair, and a big nose. Also, she was Macedonian, which was a different nation from Greeks, though they shared parts of Hellenistic culture. Phillip and his son conquered Greece, not the other way around.
Also, discussing how much of her blood was from Macedon and how much from Syria makes little sense since both Syrians and Greeks have Mediterranean looks. In ANY CASE, please look up Faiyum portraits, that's how Egyptians and Greek settlers of Cleopatra's time looked in Egypt. Their skin tones ranged from pale to black. "Race" was not a thing back then: racial theory was made up much later in colonial period to justify war crimes, slavery and other atrocities.

We don't learn about Alexander "the Great" in Ukraine, as there were too many Alexanders in history, we DO know Alexander the Macedonian, the ruler of Macedon, son of Macedonian king Philip. He did fight AGAINST Greece and defeated Greek rulers, same way he defeated Persians. Later crowned himself a Pharaoh but Egyptians don't need to invent history to claim him as one of their own...
It's getting REALLY stretching for Greeks to claim Greece existed as some sort of a unified state in 4th century BC... because it kind of didn't. Kingdom of Macedon though, was a thing. That's a historical fact. And no amount of screeching will make Alexander the Macedonian into Athenian or Corinthian. Also arguments like "he spoke Greek" would need you to prove how USA or belongs to England by that logic.
You can argue about modern former Yugoslav Macedonia or former Ottoman Greece all you want, that has nothing to do with it, and doesn't change the fact that Alexander was the ruler of ancient kingdom of Macedon, later Empire. He absolutely was Macedonian, and screaming that Alexander was Greek AND trying to ban Macedonia from using that name at the same time is some ultra-nationalistic schizophrenia: make up your mind, if he was Greek and not Macedonian, then why fight over Macedon name at all?

As far as I understand, man made climate change doesn't mean it wouldn't have changed on its own, but that because of human actions the changes are too big, sudden, and damaging, so men accelerate global warming and other side effects, and that's how we moved to record high heat waves which would be unrealistic a few years ago.
This is how it works with environment: trees die all the time, and there are forest fires that happen without human action, but when people just wipe out an entire wood, multiple times, nature can't really adapt as fast and the whole ecosystem risks collapsing. For example, in my country, Ukraine, massively chopped woods in Carpathians during late 20th century led to rock hails that destroyed plants and crops, leading to a chain reaction that permanently damaged the surroundings.
Similarly, the Amazon rainforest in Brazil has a natural amount of fires that everything in nature adapted to, and recent ones are way beyond that and the biome is simply not ready for it... I also heard how badly fracking damaged Bangladesh long term for short term gains in other countries so am very skeptical about that method to get more fossil fuels.
SO the arguments of man-made climate change deniers mostly take the form of "it would have happened anyway" ignoring how there's a huge difference between animals eventually dying and hunters wiping out their entire bloodline in a few generations. Similarly with CO2 emissions and whatever is outside right now no thanks to oil barons.
Ecosystem is very fragile, look up the sparrows in China how removing a single tiny predator led to millions starving.

@rodolfolasparri you do understand that brain size has more to do with size of the physical skull than anything? Yes, most basketball players have bigger brains than scientists. And phrenology, a pseudo-science that claimed that shape or size of the head makes ANY difference. Also, it's alarming how actual medical doctors still think black people have higher pain tolerance, it's extremely racist, and, OF COURSE, false! @St T. your biology teacher used extremely outdated sources. Genetics PROVEN that distinct races do not exist. There is literally no border and too many in-betweens between people of various ethnicities to group any of them as a "race." Now then the "races" you have in USA: Native, Latino, Caucasian, African or Asian-American are socio-ethnic groups within USA. They are product of social factors. In Europe, the word Caucasian means someone from Caucasus mountains (think Armenians like SOAD, Cher or Kardashians) and not "white people". Where do you put people from Caucasus? Cause they ARE Caucasian but not really white.

40:47 Despite never claiming to hold entire China, the Eastern Wu kingdom was arguably the most successful of the 3 Kingdoms, and though the Sun (Wu) family fell and lost power to Sima (Jin), it was their lands that remained the only ones not conquered by "5 barbarians" invasions, as China lost their imperial capitals, Luoyang and Chang'an, as well as largest cities in the North, as well as former capitals of Shu (Chengdu) and Cao Wei (Xuchang) all very soon after Jin replaced Wei (Gaoping tombs, long story) and itself went into civil "8 Princes" war...
That's how you get so much Wu and Eastern Jin documents around Changsha, Nanjing and so on. They were the final frontier of what was left of centralized rule of Han China in fourth century after years of "unification" wars, and resulting famines and emigration (people fleeing from the warlords) destroyed most of the country up north.
The population of China diminished so much in that century of civil conflict, strife and everything that comes with it, that it was not matched until World War 2 or possibly Taiping Rebellion in 19th century... Though some scholars believe that the devastation was exaggerated in records thanks to chaos letting people avoid census – and taxes.
Highly recommend reading Romance of the Three Kingdoms or watching its adaptations, especially if you like KOEI games or 3K Total War. It's basically Chinese Shakespeare but if all stories flew one into another instead of being separate.

@Anna-tc6rz that's wrong. Incest aka cosanguinuity (blood mixing), was one of the main reasons for marriage annulments in Middle Ages, since Catholics couldn't divorce, proving that a couple was too much related was one of very few ways of manipulating line of succession. There was a whole commission that determined the degree of relation and it could be swayed one way or other to allow or disallow the union. Generally, marrying a brother or sister was forbidden, but cousins were a-ok.
Now then, most Pharaohs in ancient Egypt did marry their sisters, as in Middle East, bloodline was considered to go by maternal lineage, and the creepiest thing was when they married their own daughters they had from their sisters, becoming fathers to their own grandsons.

Odesa here. Grandpa was a taxi driver, bought bananas or citruses in entire palettes, but only near the port, and when he could catch someone selling them. It was very random. One of mum's brightest memories was standing in a multi-hour line for oranges with grandma and they ran out of them just as her turn came... but lo and behold, someone noticed a single orange that rolled behind a counter. She bought it, and carried it home like a treasure... only to be met with grandpa who bought an entire sack of them as he was driving by someone who sold a bunch from a ship. Mom couldn't understand why she feels so bad when theoretically she must have been feeling happy?
She sent some oranges to a relative in another town, and they cried because kids tried to eat those like apples, without peeling, as they never seen an orange before. Mum also met a kid who didn't see a banana too, probably traveler from non-port city, she shared a bunch... Herself went sailing so she could buy underwear and elite goods like plastic bags – these were reusable and washed many times... but then every house had antlers and wooden owls, and our family had to force feed each other entire box of mandarins to prevent them from being spoiled.
USSR was full of stories like people in some warm Central Asian village getting dozens of warm coats when Siberia was freezing, and then the guy who bought the coats in a hot place, full price and all, and traveled far and wide to sell them to people who needed them, was arrested for "speculation", and coats promptly returned back to warm lands, because, you see, government had it all planned out and knew better than you who needed what. Like the country wasn't as poor as it was mismanaged. And inequality was ridiculous! Again, there were TONS of resources but they arrived somewhere they were literally rotting and re-distributing them was illegal.

@carlossaraiva8213 difference is for every Fox News you have MSNBC, even if they're half-assed like everything liberals in USA do (no offense, but it's true). Even Turkey has working opposition media, despite Erdogan's best efforts... but in countries like russia, north Korea and Hungary, government has a monopoly on effectively ALL media. Now imagine if USA didn't have CNN, NBC, WaPo, NYTimes, and ONLY ran with channels like OANN and your leading evening show host was Alex Jones, and only allowed "opposition" being Confederate fan pages and Stormfront. This is the state of media in russia. Everything pro-putin with even more extreme views allowed as controlled opposition (which never wins anything larger than local election) to show him as the lesser evil.

@christophercripps7639 oh lmao why would they claim pyramids made almost 3000 years before METER was invented to correspond to metric measurements? Unlike pi, which is a ratio found in geometry naturally (just written down using decimal system), metric system is ENTIRELY arbitrary. Some French guys just decided to make a standardized measurement, and even they made a mistake with their methodology (ratio they based distance off) so anyone in antiquity would not only decide to invent metric system the same exact way, they'd have to ALSO make extremely similar mistakes. In short, their measurement of the Paris meridian arc between Dunkirk and Barcelona 0.02% off, which isn't much but with measurements of a PLANET, adds up so polar circumference of the Earth is 40,008 km, instead of 40,000.

Everyone called them tsar though. And empress, tsarina, children, tsarevich and tsarevna etc... My grandma talking of her ancestors said they lived "pri tsare", "during tsar", I literally didn't hear the word emperor used for then-dictators of mordor before I seen Western sources. Everybody in ex-USSR always just said "tsar."
And no, tsar isn't same level of kaiser/ceasar despite being a translation of one. It's exactly how king is sometimes translated into russian. Polish king = Polski tsar. Specifically, official title of russian emperor ALSO listed him as tsar/king of several countries, so tsar IS a junior title to emperor and indeed, Nicholas WAS a tsar, that title was listed multiple times, in fact. Wiki copy-paste:
"Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссійскій, Московскій, Кіевскій, Владимірскій, Новгородскій; Царь Казанскій, Царь Астраханскій, Царь Польскій, Царь Сибирскій, Царь Херсониса Таврическаго, Царь Грузинскій; Государь Псковскій и Великій Князь..."
"Emperor and Autocrat of all russia, muscovy, Kyiv, Volodymyr, Novgorod, TSAR of Kazan, TSAR of Astrakhan, TSAR of Poland, TSAR of Sibera, TSAR of Chersonesos of Tavria, TSAR of Georgia, Sovereign of Pskov and Great Prince of..."
Then go the lesser, regional titles. Just elaborating that emperor held titles of being a tsar of several tsardoms. Etymologically, tsar is close to kaiser but russia tried to westernize yeah, so they used emperor/imperator as higher title in official documents instead and tsar for lesser ones, think how Wang in China is King/Prince, but Di is Emperor.

My mum moved from Bakhmut (then Artemivsk) to Odesa, always much more developed city than muskovia, and once she was walking eating bananas as some man with a kid stopped her, ans asked to show his watery-eyed son a banana upclose, as he has never seen one. She gave them a bunch but never forgot that. When our family sent oranges to relatives "somewhere there", said relative later said she cried as her kids never seen citruses and started eating them with the skin on...
My cousin who was born here was forcibly moved to Rybinsk after college, and they got bread lines and got, once he survived a month on just water by finding a book about starvation diet, as there was literally no salary for a week. If you lived far away from a port that gave you a window to foreign countries, you didn't have stuff. Plain and simple. And sailors were the elite, as they could get some rare goods like pantyhose and Deep Purple, Abba & Boney M vinyls people copied onto X-ray plates.
The biggest reward for party bonzas was getting Western goods, Japanese players, and the elite clothing of first worlders: blue jeans. The status symbol that got you all chicks.

Oh and Eastern equivalent of Emperor is Khagan aka "supreme khan", actually, some rulers took it in Kievan Rus' during Dark Ages (way before moscow was built), but it didn't really last... What's translated as "prince" or "duke" in English is "knyaz", which is equivalent of the viking title of konung (as in, prince Volodymyr would be konung Waldamarr in Norse sagas). Principality = knyazhestvo, knyaz-dom, lol. But those titles aren't related to modern russia, Rus' is geographically closer to modern day states of Ukraine and Belarus.
The russian state emerged when Ivan III and IV, the Terrible, took titles of Tsar, transforming muscovy from a principality into a tsardom, and the westernization came a few centuries later with Peter the I'st reforms. They weren't really popular so people kept using the titles from moscow tsardom era vernacularly. Hell, Peter the Great isn't even known by that name as much as Peter the first, "Petr pervy". Even later, white russians would pray for return of the "Tsar-batyushka", the "king-daddy" (yes), not "emperor"... It just never caught on.
Overall the whole episode and his explanation here was absolutely amazing, I was very surprised at the research they did because russian history is very muddled (several tsars literally ordered archives to get a little Alexandria library style fire) and it's hard to tell what was myth vs real events. It's VERY RARE for western historians to not fall into the trap of russian revisionism and propaganda. I hope they do Ivan the Terrible because he's being horribly romanticized in russia nowadays with putin giving orders to rehabilitate several convicted criminals linked to him. Seriously.
Oh and there's secret police tradition that goes way back they touched the middle part of the Oprichniki-ohrana-KGB-FSB chain.
tl;dr: Real good job on everything and yes, people "correcting" tsar to emperor aren't entirely correct because titles on paper are one thing and how the emperors were called in real life is another.

Well Mimino is genuinely good... The lead actor, Vakhtang Kikabidze also lost TONS of money refusing to work in russia since they invaded Georgia in 2008, and always supported Ukraine. As to director, Georgiy Daneliya, he also made Kin-Dza-Dza, imagine Fallout meets Mad Max on shoestring budget with some political satire in-between... plus that film that romanticizes criminals. Mind you, MOST Soviet movies were trash, just this, Stalker, that version of 12 chairs with Georgian actor and the Golden Calf covers everything that's not a sitcom filmed on potato and is quoted by older people because they had like 3 movies released in a decade back then. Oh, and for modern russia, its entire culture is perfectly shown in the Green Elephant.

@lostusaslambus children_were_ considered to be separate from gender dichotomy for social roles in most cultures though. Ever heard the phrase "women and children"? Children were often treated as genderless, while, of course, keeping in mind their biological sex. Example, in polygamic cultures, boys were raised in harems until puberty. In the west, dresses weren't just utilitarian, little princes were prettied up and dressed in girlish clothing in general. If they were just for utility, they could have sewn tunics or male robes for them. But nope, frilly dresses and curled, feminine hairstyles. They were really just not considered to be men until some point.

@LdyVder No, it's separate genre. Historical fiction is something like Walter Scott's Rob Roy, where the main character and his family are completely fictional, but the events take place around a real uprising, which characters take part in, and they interact with Robert MacGregor himself. Same in, say, Assassin's Creed games, where you drag Cleopatra to Ceasar or storm Bastille as some made-up Assassin... media with fictional characters meeting Da Vinci, Machiavelli, or Churchill, for example, are historical fiction, but are not biopics.

Похожий рифф был в группе их бывшего солиста и гитариста, Кая Хансена - Gamma Ray - Man on a Mission в 1995 году, и в других треках он повторялся.

@CentristDad155 how can you avoid mistakes of taking over natives land, erasing majority of them from existence and throwing them into reservation when you are enjoying the spoils? Like it's still an ongoing process, I don't see any movement of returning the settlers back into slums of Hamburg or something... Shakespeare pretty much summed it up (of course he did) in Hamlet, when Claudius is praying, he says:
My fault is past. But, O, what form of prayer
Can serve my turn? “Forgive me my foul murder”?
That cannot be, since I am still possessed
Of those effects for which I did the murder:
My crown, mine own ambition, and my queen.
May one be pardoned and retain th’ offense?
You can't REALLY stop repeating offenses when you are directly profiting from them... Did USA even pay reparations? Like Germans and Japanese understand they won't bring the dead back, but they at least trying to do something to the ones they hurt, in fact I am pretty sure Americans forced both to pay... but never issues major reparations for slavery or colonization, you know, just for starters.

11:45 Dead from grief was a code word for suicide in some societies, as people who killed themselves were usually not allowed to be buried in consecrated ground, excommunicated post-mortem, had their inheritance "nationalized", or worse. Also, censorship. If you read Chinese literature, you have a disgraced general often receive a letter from his superiors that made him die from grief... yeah right, a grieved blade to the neck, more likely... It's weird how Americans are unable to comprehend figures of speech. Example, "Cancer and Wolf" as cause of death on same book doesn't mean literally choked by a big lobster and a wolfy, those are illnesses CALLED a crab (cancer) and wolf (lupus). Similarly, planet was a code for something that would not be named otherwise. Like a heart attack?
Edit: you do name Consumption and Rising of the Lights as TB and Croup. Though I've read the latter might be asthma, pneumonia, and emphysema. You never know the local slang of the era. That's why our meme jokes will be gibberish to internet archaeologists. :p
P.S. Most deaths were from lack of vaccines and/or antibiotics. Horrible what anti-vaxxers want to bring us to! Near 50% infant mortality rate was still there in East Europe when my grandmother was young, some of her children died little without explanation too.
The dumbest thing that people knew how antibiotics worked since Ancient Egypt, the women who owned breweries made molded bread into medicine... I read that in India, and some other ancient countries people also figured that out. And then 2000 years of dark ages. =(

13:35 Iodine is for disinfecting, you don't drink it, next is Valerian root on alcohol, a mild sedative that you drink and it CAUSES SLEEPINESS, so has NO place being near a motorized... anything. Then it's boric acid, a utility topical thing, not ingestible IIRC. Pills are activated charcoal, really more of placebo but can TECHNICALLY be used for upset stomach, I think?
Oh and Armenia is incredibly hot, it's in Caucasus, near Middle East and Turkey. Problem is Soviet manufacturing didn't quite figure out logistics and they were selling extremely warm coats in subtropics and if you were an entrepreneur who buys those, drive to Siberia and sells them there, you'd be looking at jail time (real story I read about someone who just wanted people up north to feel warmer while making a buck from thick clothes that were rotting away in southern regions)

Ah yes, YOUR family acre garden. You know, with modern human rights like land ownership. Instead of toiling away on some baron's property like 99% of Medieval people did. Feudalism was bad. Peasants weren't singing and dancing happy go lucky kolkhozniks like in Soviet movies, that's pure propaganda, actual labor in the field was hard and you had everything taken away by the nobles who, guess what, didn't work. Because ordinary people did the work for them. Things like "organic veg farm" are ultra-modern inventions, things like that are hispter fun for middle class people in first world aka 5% richest in the world. Yeah, 95% of world's population are poorer than an average Westerner. And the middle class wasn't a thing in old times, you either owned land, mansions and slaves or were exploited.

Austria is literally the only country in Europe that doesn't support Ukraine, as their former leader (not that one) danced with putin at her wedding, among other things... Turkey is leading sanction-avoiding hub now with almost ALL flights and sales to russia going through it, DESPITE it being in NATO. But yes, they do help Ukraine a lot, Baykar specifically but help in general. Ukrainians also sent help to earthquake victims in return.
Funnily enough, despite Ukrainians helping everyone all the time, even when we're full of russia-shaped problems ourselves, when russians blew up the dam there was NO international help, Only singular volunteers. UN, Unicef, Red Cross, PETA, and IAEA are all upholding russian narrative that it was "nature" the rigged powerplant with explosives, mined the nuclear power plant, and is firing artillery from it into the town across the shore.

@comradewindowsill4253 and don't forget dialects! Chicago, Illinois is Shikagoh, Illinoy phonetically, also locals say NevAYda and CAYnada and MeHico, but most other English speakers don't, and some names have multiple pronounciations depending on where you're from...
However, a LOT of languages pronounce stuff exactly like written: Ukrainian, Spanish for most part, any phonetic script (like Japanese kana).
It can absolutely be used in English, doesn't even need a separate alphabet, just getting rid of French-like que-aei-oux-ault-like stuff, and figure out the silly vowels like Y, U, O, I, E and A constantly changing their sound. Why the hell English uses U or A for "ah" sound, and E or A for "eh", when ALL other languages actually make sense?

Literally all researches and teachers I heard said how Aeneid was a prime example of propaganda piece to justify autocracy to people who grew up in a Republic. If you have your alternate version, throwing phrases like "historically accurate" around, the burden of proof is on you. Literally wikipedia:
"Virgil took the disconnected tales of Aeneas's wanderings, his vague association with the foundation of Rome and his description as a personage of no fixed characteristics other than a scrupulous pietas, and fashioned the Aeneid into a compelling founding myth or national epic that tied Rome to the legends of Troy, explained the Punic Wars, glorified traditional Roman virtues, and legitimized the Julio-Claudian dynasty as descendants of the founders, heroes, and gods of Rome and Troy..."
Try reading Shakespeare, you'll find his plays are not even trying to hide they are commissioned to glorify things the Tudors (Richard II & Henrys), Scotland (MacBeth), and monarchy over democracy (Coriolanus). Vergil wasn't some perfect unbiased author in a vacuum, he also worked for the state.

@Peacewar2020 "they got satellites" argument is used a lot against other methods of surveillance, and I think people don't understand how sats work: firstly, it's not a livestream from space, but a single photo, usually once per 24 hours since most satellites don't hover in one place. Secondly, resolutions are not good enough. Third, clouds and bad weather obscures EVERYTHING. This can be avoided by using radar rather than optical sats, still first two problems remain. That's why drones, both high flying hi-res and low smaller ones, human and signal intelligence are important. NATO intelligence does that but their goal is most often to SAVE russian high-ranking generals from Ukrainians. They already did it multiple times, so the West vs Ukraine conflict will continue.

@TomMorrison-cc6xw nation states are a modern concept. You'd think unifying it in 3rd century BC is way sooner than Greece or Italy, which despite ancient history, only became unified states around 200 years ago, and not 2200 like Han China did. By 3rd Century, Eastern Wu was totally doing classic colonization, as in, on boats, reservationing the natives along Yangtze (the Shanyue mostly) not unlike what Brits would later do across the pond. Han and its successors did very same things to Xiongnu, that Tangut people, Western "barbarians" and various southern tribes, Vietnam and even Korea, which was vassalized by Wei. So by 200 BC they started an EMPIRE, which is a bit after Persia or Egypt, but still earlier than Rome did it.

@gavinbkr10 it's also why there's a problem translating names, Lili would be リリ (Riri) in Japanese. They also don't have a "v" sound, and the only consonant words can end is n. so Lina Inverse would be リナ・インバース (Rina Inbasu). "U" is often silent'ISH, so you have words ending with consonants having it added all the time. But at least using katakana script you can be sure how to read and transliterate foreign names, each character for a syllable.
In Chinese the problem is they don't HAVE any phonetic writing system. They have to use actual characters that have meaning to translate words and they often don't match real sounds too. America is 美国 (Meiguo - beautiful country), Ukraine is 乌克兰 (Wu Ke Lan - darkness vanquishing orchid), getting the R/L swap but using the words sounding close-ish for name, instead of by meaning.
Though I think does have "Er" and "Ri" sounds used in some cases... 日本(Ri Ben - Japan isn't translated but just read with Chinese rules)... AND then again, Chinese isn't really one language but multiple different pronunciations like Mandarin, Cantonese etc.; one of them actually pronounced the sound spelled by "R" in pinyin closer to J or Cyrillic Ж, so L is closer than THEIR version of R. It's headache inducing!

@Ake-TL we don't know how tanned they were. However, modern Egyptians literally have almost the same DNA (ancient ones mixed with other peoples too), so just look at modern population of Egypt to compare, seriously. Genetically, they are mostly North Africans like Libyans and Tunisians with little West Asian admix, while Jews and Arabs are west Asians, so not quite as related as we think.
Also, ancient society had no racial segregation so families were mixing a lot, a lot of Greek men married Egyptian women, either were adopting Persian culture to serve in cavalry and officially listed as Iranians. Plus one of Cleo's ancestors married a woman from Seleucids in Syria, so she HAD mixed blood despite all the incest! Also Alex is supposed to be kinda pale and fair-haired if we go by his mosaic, while the only colored contemporary images of Cleopatra show her with RED hair, but that might be artistic license. TBH I am happy they did her with correct hairstyle! Ramses had red hair though. Dyed on his mummy.

@botarakutabi1199 Exactly, engineers used strings, ropes, grips, wheels, boards, water, sand, plum stones, and most importantly, all kinds of levers, plus other nifty tricks, to make labor easier... but you still need to get energy somewhere, and without a motor converting fuel (steam, coal, oil, electricity whatever) into motion, you have to use human power.

@Pavlos_Charalambous I think that's exactly the point of OP, Greek gods being much more... human, while Egyptians, for example, had a dog-headed Anubis weighing hearts to Maat feather so that the heavy ones would be eaten by a hippo-bodies goddess with a head of a crocodile. And they did things like that just because, as omnipotent but aloof wise beings, especially compared to VERY human emotion and motivations of lustful, jealous or angry Greek gods. To an extent, the most similar characters in the Bible aren't any sort of gods, even pagan ones, but... actual people. Patriarchs and matriarchs: Hera and Athena seem much closer to Sarah or Rachel than to Ishtar or Iset.

Ehrm, ever heard of separation of power? Three branches. Courts ARE political, they hold judiciary power. Parliament holds legislative, and executive is held by the government and ministers, depending on ruler type (can be president, PM, king or queen etc.) Supreme Court is literally the highest statute in your third branch of govt., between the legislature of the Parliament Houses, and the Queen-mandated executive powers...
And they all have equal power, and are SUPPOSED to be a balancing act between each other! So when one branch pulls an... executive fiat against the other, it's the third one (courts) that settle the conflict. If the courts would bow to either the Parliament, PM, or the Queen, instead of literally doing their job and judge, that would be a dictatorship. So this "can of worms" was opened when Britain became constitutional monarchy, after king Charles lost his head after pulling a Boris Johnson.

5:04 I always thought Nismo is just a tuning division like Spoon, TRD or Mine's, so I'd expect stuff like that, slight configuration change and pre-tuned suspension and brakes, and a body kit. Like, car coming pre-riced lmao. Never knew M in BMW was intended to be a performance thing, like the Oktoberfest krendel version of Type R, I thought it's a model designation! BMWs that were kinda cool when I was little were the Q branch Bond ones, 750il and Z3/Z8 roadsters. Not M. xD But a beemer will always remain an uncle car loved by men in midlife crisis and drunk russian gopnicks so they're a huge turn-off because of the BMW badge itself, slapping a GZ or RZ on them won't make them look as if they're something cool like a Toyota, you know.

Aid was anything BUT consistent, BTW... Also, as a Ukrainian, it's kind of insane seeing Westerners so casually bury us alive, SO MANY comments are now "Ukraine is done, this is sad but oh well", guys you are no different from "2-3 days to Kyiv." Instead of donating to Come Back Alive or United24 you'd rather have us all die. Come on, the answer for aid lowering is always donate, donate, donate. This is what WE do, we support army MORE not less, when Western aid stops, which it already did in 2023.

It's also the thing that people who call themselves Arabs now, i.e. in Syrian Arab Republic and Egyptian Arab Republic, are mostly descendants of the native peoples, they just choose a pan-Arabic identity, retroactively becoming Arabs even if their ancestors lived in Levant or North Africa and never the Arabian peninsula. So, most Syrians or Egyptians nowadays call themselves Arabs, while being, well, Syrian or Egyptian. Same with Nabatea, which is basically Jordan and Sinai, too. It's worse in North Africa where countries like Tunisia, Libya, Algeria and Morocco are Arabs on paper, but are all Africans with not a part of their lands in Asia. Kinda the same with Balkan peoples and Bulgars calling themselves Slavic. It's a extra-national identity over genetic ethnicity.

@timothymclean there is a sharp difference though between Judaeo Christian Mythology, which includes the angels, powers, demons etc., the actual belief systems that does not focus on that, and the later myths people attribute to Bible, which have very little to do with it. Bible does touch VERY BRIEFLY on spirits, but focuses on humans mostly, and adds majorly on the "legendary heroes" part, but for most part Judaean mythology is kept separate from religion outside of sects like Kaballah and stories about saints. Example? Lucifer. Quickly, what you think he is? In Bible "lucifer" is mentioned once, says emperor of Babylon was cast down as morning star, latter got translated as "lucifer" in Latiin. It's not a name, and devil or satan have nothing to do with Bible's lucifer passage, but how much mythology is built around him? They made a phraseologism into absolute evil counterpart to God, which makes no sense... Same with satan, in Bible it's just your temptation, Hebrew for "accuser". Not omnipotend superpowered personification of evil. And yeah, trickle down is a myth, busted in 2008)))

@yosefvonhansom2921 except that Warsaw Ghetto uprising failed spectacularly with around 100 casualties on Nazi side, and tens of thousands of Jews killed on the spot, and survivors sent to death camps. Nobody was saved as a result of these failed uprisings, and Warsaw was almost completely destroyed. You also ignore the Allies, which gave Jewish people hope: literally the biggest country in the world, Soviet Union, was pushing back against the Nazis since Kursk battle in 1943, backed by almost limitless resources provided by strongest economy in the world, USA, via lend-lease. Massada didn't have the equivalent Scythian army backed by Gauls on the way. There was no hope.
Besides, the real fate of the defenders in unknown, suicide is against Judaism, principles, being martyred would be the usual way Jews fought, and historians don't know what exactly happened. But yes, every single GULAG or Ghetto uprising matters, so do people who died defending their land from foreign invasions, and all the defenders are heroes - doesn't matter whether they were captured, killed or killed themselves, refusing to surrender.

pretty sure russian democracy died in 1613, before russia was even founded... that were the first, and last, elections in muscovy... and as instead of Polish or Ukrainian king, the local muscovites elected a German overlord, since then every ruler in what will be renamed to russia by Peter first would be a dynastic German ultranationalist (Nicholas couldn't speak russian without a thick Bavarian accent and had a swastika on his car), periodically replaced via a coup... like Lenin... who arrived from Germany... the only exclusions were Yeltsin, a russian minority from Asia, and putin, who is not German but agent of STASI, the crappy East German spy agency.

We actually know how Egyptians wrote the names down, and can compare and contrast them with Greek ones, i.e. Iset is 𓊨𓏏𓆇𓁐, ꜣst; Coptic: Ⲏⲥⲉ/Ēse; Greek: Ἶσις, and the Coptic pronounciations (last version of Egyptian language) is known, but that's Classical era, and languages change a lot (compare modern English with Shakespeare), so while we known how they were named in Egyptian, as there's no diactric marks, we don't know vowels (they had something similar to abjad, like Hebrew or Arabic, so consonants only, not a full alphabet), and it's mostly guess-work and cross-referencing names to know the ANCIENT pronounciations. So Osiris would be ⲟⲩⲥⲓⲣⲉ/ousire in Coptic, but it's not how they would pronounce the name millenia before.

Yup, for example, we have documents of blocks being delivered to Great Pyramid's building site, and some artwork showing them being transported using sleds and water, there's also a general understanding that stone was cut with bronze tools using sand as abrasive, you know, kind of like glass cutter works nowadays just instead of sand particles glued to the blade, it was poured and water was using for cooling... but that's a general idea and obviously different stones and works during different time must have used various techniques and tools, i.e. copper earlier or iron later, remember that ANCIENT Egypt is like 3000 years, and Cleopatra lived closer to us than to building of pyramids by a good few centuries.

"It's also controversial that Ukraine has forced conscriptions."
Ukraine stopped conscriptions, in fact. We had them for most of our history, every 18 year old male was sent to serve in the army, now this stopped... Instead, we started mobilization of guys 27+ now lowered to 25. It's not "controversial", it's a just a thing any country attacked does, you'd have draft too if your country was invaded.
Reason so many are dying is because West refuses to let Ukraine win: there's no help on the ground, endless limits on what Ukrainians can use, and sanctions on russia are incredibly weak, not to mention oil and gas wasn't even sanctioned. Embargo is what was needed, but who would think of muh fossil fuel billionaires!

@jermainecornelius7193 the school thing was digital piracy tho, and that school made people pay for viewing. I don't oppose pirating movies, but a company protecting their IP is normal, especially when someone earns on them. My point wasn't about Disney as a company but about at least half of movies being not original. Look at Oscars, there's Original Screenplay, and Adapted Screenplay as separate categories. Recent movie examples, Marriage Story is original, so is Star Wars. Little Women and Jojo Rabbit are based on books. 1917 is technic original but it's historical fiction so not really. Joker is original take on existing franchise. Similar to Disney remakes except actually good. Though the jury is out in live action Mulan, I want to see that.
Now, plagiarism like with Kimba, corporate greed, and sequelitis are separate problems, though, about originality... if I recall correctly, Frozen is very successful and it has almost nothing to do with Snow queen. If anything, the first film had general plot of Sense and Sensibility as a hook and then went completely original.

@DirtiestDMusic Jokes about Cody defeating racism with his penis aside, as FD mentioned, McMahon absolutely despised southerners and hillbillies, and Rhodes family were some of main targets of his bullying: Dusty with strange gimmicks, polkadot gear, and was paired with Sapphire, a black woman valet with strange story where she was brainwashed by Ted Dibiase, then his older son Dustin had Goldust, that weird sleazy sexual gimmick of even worse way that Mark Henry or Big Daddy V, and Cody was stuck with Stardust then dashing/undashing gimmicks. So baby blues aside, they were always treated horribly by WWE, only AEW success and Vince sidelined let Rhodes finally not being treated as literal trash.

Don't know who is Dua Lipa but know Arch Enemy got rekt by photographer who happens to be a lawyer, because OF COURSE the person taking the picture owns copyright. THINK, people! If politicians, celebrities and businessmen had rights to photos they appear in, how would even the journalism survive as a profession? A dirty official taking bribes on film? Photographer gets in jail. Caught R.Kelly pissing on a teen? He sues you for his image. NO PEOPLE SHOULD NOT GET RIGHTS FOR ANY IMAGES THEY APPEAR, it will destroy any investigations forever, it will be a dystopia where rich do everything they want, film it, and ruin your life if you object to anything on tape, be it torture, sexual assault or murder.

@Ethan-cz8xq it's true even today. After successful revolutions in most of East Europe and the Arab Spring in middle East made dictators run with their lives, Venezuela, the country that suffered the worst under a corrupt regime, started protesting... then stopped when there wasn't enough food. Instead, people were just fleeing to Peru or Colombia, many through bordering Ecuador. Recently, Bolivia, Zimbabwe, and even Sudan had their leaders arrested or chased away but Maduro, the worst of them all, is still in power.

Personally, I think the myth is heavily inspired by general real cataclysms – similar how unrelated cultures have great flood myths, this is just Greek version of that, with knowledge that Minoans and Mycenaeans. "Man build tower, man arrogant, man cast down" and washed away... Stories retold to avoid making the same mistakes people always did. That is the point, not underwater loot!
For this reason I don't see a point "finding the Exodus Pharaoh", he's not named for a reason... that's not the point of the story, fighting back against oppression and freeing slaves is. I find this extremely relatable, there's always SOME tinpot "pharaoh" who'd rather sacrifice his country's first born sons than stop invading... yeah, it's very applicable to any anti-colonial movement.

About Ukraine-reported russian casualties: personnel losses are approximate, they literally had an asterisk saying that in reports. For same reason you said, methodology counting individual soldiers is imprecise. Generally, they count average crew size for each vehicle but you can't always be sure if it had higher or lower crew and it's hard to know for sure which are KIA and which are simply wounded or even retreated from a burning tank.
Just clarifying that Ukrainian general staff itself openly admits that the count isn't, and cannot be, precise. It's all approximations. Speaking of personnel only here, the tech counts ARE assumed to be precise, Ukraine uses soldier reports, Oryx uses open source pictures, videos, and crew obituaries, which establish the bare floor of minimum losses for either side. Real loss count is 100% higher, only question is to what extent.
Another thing that I want to add is that American counts are also flawed, there's another problem, they ASSUME 1 to 3 ratio of dead to wounded. Despite russian medevac being infamously bad, and prisoners not even getting one at all, what little we know it wad more 1.1-1.5 to 1 ratio, so 80k dead to 100k wounded would be closer to reality than ~40k dead and 120k+ wounded invaders, which Americans presume. They're projecting Western care for common soldier's life onto post-Soviet values where people are considered expendable.

Wikipedia puts his role as writerdirectoproduceractoeditor, but "Also production designer and manager, casting, set design, wardrobe, props, lighting designs, special make up effects, locations, administration and accounting, craft services, make up and hair and sound editor" for most movies... This specific movie is missing wardrobe so I half-expect one of his friends working in retail selling clothes and having a sample of oddly-colored shits of old stock the store is throwing away. So they all wear them lol.

On foot met at arms would also use some form of heavy weapon, like English bills, or mainland European glaives. It's similar in Japan, where samurai would use spears, bows, and later, guns, and ashigaru (peasant retinue which made up majority of armies in feudal period) would get longer and longer pikes. And later guns, too... however, ALL OF THEM would be armed with a sword of some sort, and a dagger too. You just don't bring a lance into indoor fight. Swords were pistols of pre-modern age.

1. first Star Wars, Empire Strikes back is better but pointless watching it on its own.
2. Rashomon - shorter, more influential movie from Kurosawa than 7. Ran and
3. Fargo - it's SO GOOD! Liked it?.. Add No Country for Old Men
4. The Princess Bride - this film is made of quotes, nothing could copy its "fairytale for adults" vibe.
5. Gaslight - THE movie about psychological manipulation. Watch it to see if your family, loved ones or friends abuse you. If you liked that film, add All About Eve and Sunset Boulevard for more psychological film noir.
6. Fifth Element - personal fav. Quotable. If you liked it, watch Leon too... Liked Leon? Watch Wasabi too.
7. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Other Charlie Kaufman films.
8. Lucky Number Slevin - contender for best story of all time
9. Hero (with Jet Li), or House of Flying Daggers from same team.
10. The Mummy (1999) version, if enjoyed, watch Mummy Returns AND The Scorpion King with the Rock. It's the best "adventure" movie quasi-trilogy (sequel and a prequel), which never gets boring.
Honorable mentions: Way of the Dragon, Lord of the Rings esp. Two Towers, Blade Runner, Good Will Hunting, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, 007: Thunderball (one with the jetpack), The Warlords (Chinese Hong Kong movie). I'd add first Matrix but cannot recommend it as a movie, only for influence. Oh and Terminator, both two movies in the series.)

3:41 That's actually Corsica, home of Napoleon, that's how I remembered that it's part of Fraaaaance not Italy. Right below it is Sardinia and the big Island at the tip of Italy's shoe is the famous mafia land, Sicily. The group of Islands to the left are Balearic, larger one is Majorca, and smaller is Minorca, third I forgor. The two Islands on the right side are famous from classical Greece, one closer to Turkey is the one they fight about, Cyprus. Independent state. The other, closer to Greece and part of it, is Crete, the one with the Minotaur and Icarus. This leaves Malta as the dot below Sicily! TBH I probably learned most of the Mediterranean more form computer strategy games which always have it.

16:02 This isn't even specific for antiquity, most high ranking people were dictating and either scribes or, later, editors for printing, were writing it down, that's even if they composed the texts themselves, I mean you don't expect Biden to write his own press releases, right? A personal note from, say, Queen of Sweden, is rare even now!

rdmo83 thanks for the support! TBH, what limited help we get, it's USA that is Ukraine's biggest supporter. Maybe 4000 Ukrainians fighting in Iraq back then helped?.. Anyway, Europe has a lot of putin's shills, especially the vice-PM of Italy and some parties in Germany and France...
And as much as Trump is trying to shift the focus from his faults every time he says that, he's right that EU should increase military funding and be more supporting to Ukraine, because the war directly concerns them, not America, which basically has to pull off another lend lease to save Europe from Chamberlain's ideas of peace again...
Unfortunately, oil & gas companies like Total, BP, Shell and Schroeder's lobby earn too much via buying cheap fossil fuels from russia to sever ties. But Nordstream revenue isn't worth appeasing a dictator and sacrificing two-three countries in the East.

Charlie Kaufman is my favourite screenwriter! It's confusing because you watch it out of order. It starts after they wiped their memories, you can see by Clem's hair colour and Joel having everything associated with her, including the song Clementine wiped from his memory. Later, the therapy starts wearing off and they find out, through flashbacks, that their "new" relationship isn't new, and that they dated, it hurt, and they tried to forget... any way possible. Which failed. You can see another story, with Mary and Dr. Howard, repeating itself. The conclusion in the movie is that erasing memory doesn't work since people remain the same and still act in the same way.

in russia, they call every explosion "a clap", which is a meme because the word for clapping, "хлопок", is written the same way as "cotton", so we made fun of their newspeak by making "бавовна", the Ukrainian for cotton, synonymous with explosions in russia. Other terms they use are "ensmoking" for fire, "underwatering" for flood, and "special military operation" for war, the last is the most ridiculous as "war" and "military" have the same root in russian so it really sounds like them saying "it's not war it's just a... special warring thingy"

I think he meant the arming sword equivalent... Otherwise, yeah, katana IS just the character for "sword" in Japanese, but the one most often called a katana and what they probably meant is Uchigatana, which is a 16th century onwards thing, and most associated with samurai as Japan was quickly unified and field battles stopped being a thing, so it was the ONLY melee weapon still in use – for duels, banditry, security duty etc., and absolutely used more than spears and the like AFTER 1615, but mostly used as more of a sidearm before.
All that said, it's still a type of Japanese sword, nihonto, and grouping them all together works, it's like there's a bunch of different maces and morningstars too, with WAY more difference between each other than between a katana and, say, tachi. Oh, and tanto is a type of dagger, they would usually carry both tanto and katana on battlefield instead of traditional daisho pairing of katana and wakizashi. Anyway, this video didn't bother covering all Japanese weapons so they just added it as an Easter Egg/bonus kind of deal. I learned stuff about messers and falchions here!
For people who don't know, a tachi is basically like a katana with slightly bigger curve used from horseback, main difference is in how it was worn: sheathe was blade-down, dangling from the belt on a rope, instead of blade-up and thrusted through the sash.

Military discipline is also mostly bullshit, I've heard from some of our many actual, combat soldiers fighting russia, that one thing they hate the most is saluting – some swore to never go back to army in peacetime because they could take the trenches and bombings, but not salutes – it's stupid, disrespectful, makes no sense, and doesn't help.
Discipline is basically a Soviet leftover, and we know that USSR-style armies suck in a fight. Don't act like communists, remove the disciplinary bullshit from your army, it only stops them from destroying russia more effectively... Officers are disrespected by most soldiers anyway, so don't bloody make actual troops bow to captain beer belly.
No actual combat troop, medic or volunteer should be humiliated in front of gravy seals that make up officer corps.

Ironically, russians, of all people, still brag their Spetsnaz is supposedly physically stronger than USA troops, and when an American drone operator was asked what he feels about that, the answer was similar to the lines of "okay"... ;) Then comes battle of Khasham and around 300 ruskies get turned into shashlyk with literally zero Americans hurt, because russian men can't jump high enough to wrestle the drones I guess.))) Scores of tanks, armored cars, and artillery were turned into mush, all in a few hours.
Stronk russian elite super special force with tons of armored vehicles only managed to injure A SINGLE SDF Kurdish infantryman, who simply called in an airstrike... & another one. Then ruskies climbed to pick up their comrades corpses... And were shelled again. OF COURSE russians denied any of their troops ever existing, let alone being in Syria, and that their families (which mourned) don't exist, like they always do, claiming it was tourists, Martians, or other IHTAMNET)
When US command was asked about the incident by reporters, the officer shrugged it off like routine. Apparently it's what they regularly do – it just doesn't get publicized while the Deir Ezorr incident was leaked. My point was that a nerd with a drone can wipe out a whole unit of MODERN ELITE SPETSNAZ, and any troops that didn't have firearms, well... point is, real life is not Civilization where spearman can defeat a tank. Your "super training" just makes you a better target.

@ProfessorDaveExplains literally nothing in Bible says Earth is unmoving, or in center, in Genesis of all things! "Water" part is because Hebrew word for sky, Sha-mayim, has watter, mayim, as its root. Basic Hebrew. As to unmoving, the flerfers quote a passage that talks about Earth being God making ground FIRM under someone's feet in a battle in a much later episode, as proof of Bible saying "unmoving", but that's obviously talking about the steady ground and not the planet, duh.
Also, days of Creation have nothing to do with day and night cycle, which by itself is established at day 4. How stupid people need to be to think people who lived near Ancient Egypt, which was more developed than 19th century England, were as dumb as modern Americans who believe in Q and other conspiracies?.. O.o

@tudormardare66 "most books written in history are in Latin" I literally haven't seen a single Latin book in my entire life. Nobody reads Roman literature, ever... or learns that dead language in schools anymore, or can name a single Latin book that a movie is based on (while there are, like, a dozen adaptations of Jane Austen every year). I mean, I know there was Vergil, but only because he's a Devil May Cry character... The only way people even know Ceasar isn't just a salad is from Asterix and Obelix, a French comic, & the only people who speak Latin are paedos in Vatican (unlike Jewish and Greek, which are still official languages in countries that are actually bigger than a football field), and even they worship a Jewish person as a God. The so-called "Roman culture" consisted of adding -es to the end of Greek words, and all of your people's killing, rae ping, pillaging and invading over Mediterranean ended with Mussolini being hanged upside-down for the people to spit on. BUT! Even if you're so proud of war-mongering, slavery and Empire-building, even in that endeavour, your mafia guys are vastly outdone by the English, who are the ONLY reason we use "Latin" alphabet in the first place. It's because of British Empire, not Vatican, lmao! Hell, Napoleon, a single person, achieved more than your people, unless you count pizzerias, of course.
THE MOST FAMOUS ITALIAN IS LITERALLY MARIO. A plumber in a Japanese game. Just let that sink in.
Anyway, I have nothing against Italians - but a HUGE peeve with people claiming to be great based on some long-forgotten history. You vote populists and fascists in and then EU has to deal with lunatics wearing shirts with putin in parliaments... Like, no. Just no. Bringing up Impearial past makes you look like a deluded wannabe-fascist, at best, and a deranged lunatic, at worst. Stick to being cooks, your cuisine is good, and don't attempt to invade us again, because we'll just do what we did in the preceding World Wars, again.

Europe destroyed Nazi monuments in 1945, renamed streets and cities back from Third Reich-imposed names... then everything East of Berlin did the same in 1991 when toppling communism, another authoritarian regime. Each country, usually after a colour revolution, did a major demolition of Lenin, Kotovsky, Zhukov, Konev and other Soviet invader monuments (deStalinization happend earlier), AND EVERY TIME rUSSIAN GOVERNMENT SCREECHES "HOW CAN YOU DO THAT, THIS IS PART OF YOUR HISTORY". DO NOT listen to putin, tRump, Boris, or other collaborators. Do you job. Tear down your slavers like we tore ours!

Apples are made mostly of water, fiber and sugar. "Nutrition" means macronutrients (apples are mostly carbohydrates with trace amounts of proteins), and micronutrients (apples have small amounts of potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron, vitamins C and A). Bigger apple means more nutrition unless it's more watery. Then it gives you more hydration. Example, modern strawberries, a product of hybridizing, are more watery have less nutrition per gram than wild strawberries – doesn't mean they're worse! And you can't get enough micros from apples (or bananas, or ANY single kind of fruit) alone. You need a balanced diet. Most fruits are healthy food either fresh or baked, because of the fibers, but processed ones, like caramel or flavour additives made from apples at that point are just flavoured sugar. So "health snack" granola bars with "fruit" are not healthier than a Snickers bar.

@sakomanlee Figure skaters from russia literally ended up in positive doping tests last Olympics, Ice Dancers have the same coaches and doctors so YES, EVERY SINGLE RUSSIAN FIGURE SKATER IS ON DOPING. No exceptions. Period. It's a government program, you CANNOT REFUSE. Like you won't be trained or let to compete if you don't take the "vitamins" coach gives you. Full stop. How they do it is dope them for endurance so they can train more than it's humanly possible, wearing out their body so by 20, most girls are retired as cripples and go from podiums straight to wheelchairs.
Skiing isn't much better, apart from all russians, as always, being under dope at all time, they had another major scandal with Norway, where suspiciously high amount of skiiers were prescribed anti-asthma medicine. That said, Norwegians were already better than others in that sports, so it's like doping up US basketball team, they were going to be major favorites to win anyways. But China or russia? They're all doped.
Now, saying "everyone juices" is a horrible excuse, but saying that some sports are just clean is also not right, CHESS players used doping, and so do eSports videogame players stocking up on Adderall, there's cheating in EVERY type of sports. This is a problem and not enough is done because catching cheaters is bad PR, and many were willing to cover up entire state-run doping program for russian to save reputation of those 4-5 Americans who got caught TOO. So to save individuals, they allow massive doping programs to run and get away scot-free unless some people investigate on purpose.

2:01 Это Helloween - Eagle Fly Free. Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part II. 1988го года. Man on a Mission Gamma Ray

Sane people absolutely DO say voting blue is the only thing that can save the country, you literally have comment below saying it's gonna be the last election if trump wins, and numerous YouTubers said it's the most important one in our lifetime, and they're right, though what also matters is what happens after - next attempt at coup would be better prepared.
So to actually make sure this isn't the last election USA sees, Kamala Harris needs to:
1: Win by more than 4 million votes, as in the rigged American system, democrats have a handicap and need to win by literally 8 million votes or more for some reason.
2: Actually prevent a rebellion by already prepared militants who are saying the election is stolen even before the votes were cast. Kremlin-backed Putschists.
3: Survive the gallows they would bring a few months in, as in, not physically get hanged, as this is GOP's official policy for previous vice presidents.
No pressure!

There can't be serious civil unrest in russia. In fact, last time they had substantial protests in 2012, people were calmed by invading Ukraine. They became even poorer as result, but the screams of "Crimea is ours! What's next?" were drowning the voices of hunger... As their economy went further down the drain, only full scale invasion would have calmed russians down and you can see how trust in government skyrocketed with each town in Ukraine razed to the ground. Their stomachs are rumbling, but seeing videos of bombed-out Ukrainian homes and pictures of dead children calms russians down. They know that their poverty pays for weapons that bomb schools and hospitals... Their population is incredibly violent. Even opposition like Navalny, ran on program of "build less palaces, more bombs!" As he said in his films. And with Germany paying russia billions of Euros every week, they won't run out of ordnance anytime soon.
So there won't be civil unrest in russia as long as EU keeps arming russia to the teeth by buying fossil fuel from it... There's an old joke about the eternal battle between content of your fridge and your TV, and in russia, television always keeps winning... Like any Soviet engineer could say: "we are poor and starving but at least we can bomb Europe to the ground and make them live just as bad! So proud of my country..."

And they get away with it too! Beijing Olympics when russia invaded Ukraine again (not those Beijing Olympics in which russians invaded Georgia a second time), a russia figure skater was found to have positive doping test, and instead of disqualifying her entire team (that uses the same coach and doctors) they let them take medals, despite knowing they're all doped. The one with positive tests fell during her performance, which russian commentators blamed on "evil westerners bullying the poor girl", then proceeded to explain how russia won't invade Ukraine and it's all russophobia. They invaded Ukraine next day after Olympics closed, and only so because Xi Jinping ordered them to wait until it's over.
STOP. LETTING. RUSSIAN. FEDERATION. CITIZENS. INTO. COMPETITION. Their "neutral" flag is literally just russian Aquafresh on gray, AND the "neutral" athletes they let in somehow all have pictures in military uniform, hugging putin plus social media posts supporting war. ALWAYS. Half of them are active officers in russian military... so are ALL cosmonauts, who brought "separatist" flags in ICC and celebrated bombing Ukraine in SPACE. NASA is as corrupt as IOC. It's their putinist "culture", a colonizing "country" of imperialist war mongers who think it's still 18th century and they have "white man's burden" to "civilize" those "barbarians in Eurasia and Africa".

Eastern part of our country was mostly populated by steppe tribes and didn't have major cities until very recently, Donetsk, for example, was founded by John Huges, from Wales, in ripe old year of 1869. The other big city, Luhansk, dates to at least 1790s and was founded by Charles Gascoigne, also a Brit. Now, southern cities had Greek, Roman, Genoan, Ottoman and even Lithuanian control, and Kyiv absolutely should be done like that, it's one of three main Holy Cities for Orthodox Christians, along with Constantinople and Jerusalem.... But also, Western part has even more fascinating history of sides changing, even within one lifetime, here's a classic joke.:
"A man stands in front of Heaven's Gate.
Saint Peter asks 'Where were you born?'
The man thinks for a moment and says 'Austria-Hungary, Lemberg.'
'Where did you go to school?'
'Poland, Lwow.'
'Where were you married?'
'The Ukrainian S.S.R., Lviv.'
Surprised, Saint Peter asks 'Where was your first child born?'
'In the German Reich.'
'And where did you die?'
'At home in Lvov, in the Soviet Union.'
Astonished, Saint Peter shouts 'My, you moved around a lot!'
'What are you talking about? I never left the city!'"

4:20 I know many people said that, but in addition to your view of one tribe (Levi) having a smaller Exodus, the story can be an allegory to ganging autonomy/independence from Egypt, kind of like countries breaking up from USSR see it as their own little Exodus... BUT, there's also Amarna letters showing that despite de jure control of Canaan by Egypt, central govt. didn't send reinforcements as the Levant was invaded exactly at the time pharaoh Amenkhotep the IIIrd changed his name to Akhenaten and got his stint with isolationism and monotheism in a new capital he sent everyone building...
So these stories are ABSOLUTELY related, and we need to dig more into what happened around that period. Especially knowing how hard Egypt tried to censor the whole Aten stuff. There's many similar motifs and Egyptian loss of control over its colonies in the Levant (even if they regained it) IS part of history. AND in addition to things happening around Amarna period, there's Hyksos invasion, Merneptah Stele, and numerous intermediate periods during which Egypt lost control of itself, let alone faraway provinces on another continent.
At this point it seems like heavily romanticized version of Canaanites gaining independence from Egypt and fighting over those who wanted 1) to "return" being a vassal 2) to bring back polytheism (golden calf story). 40 years also seem to be symbolic, as in just explaining period of uncertainty and that only AFTER the generation born in Soviet Uni–Egypt passed on, true freedom could be established. People are arguing about myth vs history, completely ignoring the most obvious option of it being a parable loosely describing real events in allegorical terms. And Bible is FULL of parables and allegories, from the poor man with a single lamb to the prodigal son.

@SolntsaSvet "uKrAiNiAn EtHiC nAtIoNaLiSm" already got Lada for your son? Imagine your country colonizing neighbors for entire 400 years your nation exists, trying to destroy every other language, culture, and, well, people, LITERALLY PARADING BEHEADED "UKRAINIAN" SKULLS FOR STAND-UP ENTERTAINMENT, and calling the victims of your colonialism "racist chauvinists". Also, everyone needs to know what russians did to Circassians, Chechens, and other Caucasus peoples, because it's the same you did to Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars, in order to "make Crimea white again". P.S. white russians wearing traditional Caucasian gear is the same as blackface.

6:10 Thanks for telling that EVEN as seemingly clear a difference as "white" and "black" are just social constructs. That's why all this "Ancient Egyptians were white/black/brown" things are completely bogus, as the races, by definition, ARE social constructs! Mexicans, Muslims or Slavs didn't exist in Antiquity!
Great example, Latinos. Nowadays, the word is used to refer mostly to American people from Mexico, central and South America. But originally, Latin meant, well, Italians. Or Arab, which is a multi-ethical identity for many nations now. Well, guess what, Jewish people in Israel have more DNA in common with Arabs in Arabian peninsula than Egyptians, who are living in Egyptian Arab Republic, where the HQ of Arab league is located.))) North African countries are Arabian by identity, a social construct. They are mostly genetically distinct from Middle East.
And genetics are extremely complex, and any racial division is based more on social factors (i.e. African Americans are a distinct community formed as result of centuries of migration and segregation) then on genes, in fact you can find more genetic diversity between two separate tribes in Africa than between completely different-looking people in New York.

@D3adCl0wn that's because debunkers focus on wrong things. The governments ARE lying to people, but not in the way conspiracy nuts (which are often just supported by hostile actors) get fooled into... for example, one of the reasons a lot of Black people in USA are skeptical about vaccines and doctors is because of pretty horribly history of lies and abuse by Americans medics against their community. So instead of trying to debunk Earth shape, you need to focus on why people feel betrayed or left out by the state, and touch on the real issues that are obscured by conspiratorial nonsense...
Example, USA lied during Iran-Contra affair. Arming their enemies... people bring that up (or whatever related to Saddam) and assume the opposite side is truthful and eat up russian or Chinese propaganda with zero critical thinking... it's one of the reasons TikTok is harmful: undiluted CCP controlled platform. There are cooks who see "UK public broadcaster" label on BBC and scream it's propaganda while getting mad at russia today correspondent from UK like Galloway getting label of being labeled as "russian state media", which he is.
Address people's actual worries instead of just debunking each conspiracy at the time... you're fighting phantoms otherwise, a hydra, cut off one head, two more grow. SOMEONE WHO LOST TRUST IN MEDIA AFTER IRAQ WON'T RECOVER IT AFTER YOU PROVE THE HORIZON TO THEM, the issues are deeper and governments don't help it.

Most personality tests you see online or in pop psychology journals are a scam, BTW, there are helpful clinical tests like Cattell's 16PF but they DO NOT tell what personality you have but are used by psychologists to measure client's change over time. Post-Jungian stuff like Myers–Briggs (or worse, Socionics) are actually do more harm than good as the result switch based on person's mood. The funniest thing is that almost everyone who believes in them says the same thing "I am INTJ did you know it's the rarest type only special super smart geniuses like Sherlock Holmes, Dr. House and MEEEEEEE have?"
Finally, the biggest irony, is that while Four Humours theory in medicine is completely wrong and killed tons of people (doctors were "bleeding" them with dirty instruments because these morons didn't believe in infection), the four personality types DO have research that collaborates with them, specifically Eysenck put them on two scales, extroversion and neuroticism (emotional stability). I.e. a "sanguine" person isn't someone who has (Harker's voice in Dead and Loving it) too much blood, but an extroverted emotionally non-stable person. Opposite for phlegmatics (and not having too much snot).
Anything more that just that is usually fiction. Many people try to challenge Eysenck too, as for every two psychologists there's at least three theories, but at this point the critique mostly boils down to trying to deny introverts right to exist in an attempt to force them to become extroverts, seeing introversion as a disorder and not a personality type.
But BOI the Socionic people are effectively a cult based on a personality test.

Fast as a Shark Accept. TWO Minutes to Midnight Iron Maiden,

@CRneu my aunt joined a cult out of nowhere, despite having higher education and all, but she had years of doing stuff like working esoteric shops, once even seducing Orthodox monk, as she was very performative in her church visits. She tried to cure grandma's heart with homeopathy... less than a year after funeral the entire cult was arrested for planning to overthrow Ukrainian government and let invaders in. I think the biggest red flag was when she and mum were in university together, auntie was very receptive of professors offering special extracurricular "trainings" and fell for phrases like "I see great potential in you"... one of those, mum (they were in the same group) wanted to join one for kicks, but teacher outright denied to let her into a PAID seminar, assume because she was outspoken and nonconformist, while her sister ate everything up, and now we have to take care of her cat.

Vikings literally assimilated too... they did NOT push their culture on locals as much as they adopted local customs, Normans were frankified vikings, Varangians were heavily influenced by Eastern Roman/Byzantine empiure, and Rus' basically mixed with Slavs and Bulgars so much, they stopped existing as a separate nation, the only thing left of the Norsemen that Arabs and Persians knew as the "Rus" is, at most, 10% of DNA in Ukrainians and Belarusians.
You can even see how their names changed, first princes with purely Nordic: Askold, Dyr, Rurik (latter is likely fictional), then came names that got Slavified into the common names still in use here, Ingvar became Igor, Helga and Helgi – Olga and Oleg, THEN they picked a soundalike Slavic name to their Nordic, for example Waldamarr became Volodymyr, and Sveinald – Sviatoslav. FINALLY, next generation stopped having a Norse name altogether, styling themselves something like Yaroslav, Vsevolod or Sviatopolk, and of course many just Christianized and we got Ivans, Marias, Anastasias, Pavlos and Petros instead.
Similar processes happened in other places, Wilhelm became William in England... Karl – Charles... Heinrich – Henry. You can see Germanic etymology of other names too. But Plantagenets were already culturally French at that point. Vikings stopped being vikings eventually... But the LARPers think that Norwegians 200 years ago worshiped Odin, while in the real world, Norwegian king already led a crusade 900 years ago. This ignorance is deliberate.

@perfredelius since 2014, either invade full scale or get frozen conflict that wastes resources with no gains (Minsk shenanigans)... Early 2022, get surrounded near Kyiv or retreat... on the other side, keep trying to encircle Mykolaiv, push to Odesa, or retreat to the river, then across it from Kherson... in Mariupol, keep throwing stuff at Azovsteel or let the garrison out... no further credibility loss than Azov commanders and Marines back in action (Turkey let them go). In sea and air they're pushed to be very careful because the dileema is losing another flagship or squadrons of jets or only acting from deep behind frontlines. Same with stretching supply routes on land since HIMARs and later, Storm Shadow appeared. Tons of no-win situation... mind you, russia is making these for us too, like moving air defenses to capital/West/away or wasting resources on civilian infrastructure over figthing on the front. They fail to make some too: nobody in Ukraine actually falls for "imminent attack from Belarus" after first one failed. So no extra resources sent up north.

They also had drinks with negligible alcohol like kvass, mentioned in Ukraine at least since 10th century, and it's still consumed by kids (impossible to get drunk from it), it has no more alcohol than sour milk products, i.e. kefir. Speaking of that, West and Central Asia has a long tradition of milk products as nomads wouldn't settle in once place long enough to grow grapes for wine, the famous legend of Scythian queen Tomyris beheading Cyrus the Great comes from that. Later, Islam solidified milk drunks like kumis among Muslim peoples i.e. Tatars or Kazakhs.
Modern filtering was also not a thing, and since ancient times (literally prehistoric, like before writing was invented), we can see carvings of people drinking beer from jars with straws, that's to avoid all the hard stuff that would be in it, so many "beers" in ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia would be like porridge or smoothies. Of course people had liquid drinks too, I am just elaborating on what constituted "beer" back then, straight up stuff to get drunk was often called "mead" too, see various chronicles...
Then Persians invented distilling (and didn't use if for much because of alcohol ban in Quran) in early Middle Ages, but vodka was invented by Polish way later. I looked up and it seems French were distilling brandy as early as 14th century so late Medieval period, and Irish and Scots were making whiskey in early 1000s, which is actually something I didn't expect, while cognac is a pretty late drink. Not sure about champagne, I guess monks could fart into wine or something, I am not a clergywoman to know.

10:20 Writing this before seeing your response to test myself: as a kid from children's pop science books, I learned that Horus is the god of SKY, not just sun, the sun gods were Amun and Ra (or Re), later combined into Amun-Ra... Set was NOT a god of darkness, at all. He was god of dry sandy wind. Very specific to region deity, which wouldn't really work outside of desert. He also wasn't always seen as evil, as Seti and Ramesses dynasty worshiped him as their main deity.
It's such a streeeeeetch, almost as if they wanted to claim common dichotomy of light vs dark AND a tie to Egypt as it's popular, and managed to miss that there's Ra defeating Apep the snake (anyone who played Assassin's Creed Origins would know) and raising the sky chariot every dawn that would fit way more, but they went with Horus vs Set because they played Tomb Raider 4 or something... Nah, they wanted to make a Cain/Abel parallel, which also wouldn't work (they aren't even brothers), later.
P.S. I specifically quoted non-academic stuff but things a CHILD would know, for example, you go into Duat and see the giant skeleton of Apep in Assassin's Creed, a game series that never claimed great historical accuracy but the guys like Peter Joseph don't even pass the videogame level of knowledge on Egyptian myths. Or children's book level of cursory knowledge on ancient Egypt... Did he even watch the Mummy? :3

@ so by your logic, every American and Canadian is an Englishman. Except ppl in Quebec, who are French. Also nationalism wasn't a thing back then, Ptolemaic Egypt WAS EGYPT. Not Greece.
I'm so tired of Westerners claiming other people's achievements as their own, USAtians saying "I am 2% Irish that means I take credit for building stone henge"...
NO. You are American if you're born in America. Full stop. You're not Greek, Irish, or German. If you were born, lived and worked all of your life in Africa, it's pretty ridiculous when people 2000 years later claim you're a European.
And EVERYBODY was Greekified back then, Israel, Egypt, Persia, Rome... doesn't mean Jesus disciples were Greeks because they spoke Koine same way I speak English now.

Nah, this is the case where they're kinda right, during height of British Empire, most of the world spoke FRENCH as international language, and countries with good English, i.e. Sweden or Netherlands, were never colonized by British, and learned English from pop culture, which is a mix of US, UK, Aussie and other Anglophone TV, music etc.

Democracy is a great system, and I eagerly await Americans actually discover it! But USA is so backwards, it would need someone like Latvia, Ukraine or France overthrow US government and install our own, ban federalization, dispose of electoral college, arrest everyone barking "states rights", allow convicts to vote, and forbid anyone under 51% of votes to become president. THEN they might choose a leader via popular vote, WITH RUN-OFFS, because, again, any election where candidate is allowed to rule without getting a majority is undemocratic.

Why would I want the singer to fire bombs at me, again? If you think sending russians into Ukraine is punishing THEM, I have a bridge to sell you. Crimean bridge. No, let them STAY in russia. Block all exits, total embargo and visa ban. Do. Not. Let. A. Single. One. Out. Let them get drunk in THEIR country, not do what they did with Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Ichkeria, Syria, Libya and other countries they keep invading.

Ironically, it was atheists who participated in biggest purge of Orthodox Christianity in history, from 1917 to 1991, but by that time the biggest church (moscow patriarchate) had ALL clergy of high rank working for KGB, officially... when Constantinople patriarch (Orhtodox Pope with less power) gave us Tomos and recognized the newly-unified Kyiv Metropoly as legitimate, in the ancient year of 2018, one of the conditions was to depose Filaret, the Kyiv Patriarch, and elect a new guy. Epiphanius won the elections. He studied in seminary AFTER the USSR's collapse (dude finished school in 1990s), so our current leader has no ties to KGB (now FSB), which still leads the russian church with agent Mikhailov working as patriarch Kirill Gundiayev (they literally bless missiles and ish).

Yes, I can't believe how many times I heard arguments ranging from putin having "legitimate concerns" (as russia bombs my city) to "russian soldiers aren't evil they're just brainwashed" (to steal washing machines?), explain your sympathy for russians to the mother whose child intestines were turned inside out with a missile.
In real life, evil is just that, evil. You don't need to "understand" what's in dictator's head. Movies conditioned people to think about villain complexity while in reality he's just a psychopath who gets his dopamine fix from war crimes.
One of my fav villain types is the eldritch horror. Sadako from the Ring doesn't give a crap about you, she just kills everyone she comes in contact with. The girl had a backstory but she's far gone from having any humanity left. Many horror villains are like that, they don't have a motivation we can comprehend.
Reapers in Mass Effect were perfect villains as they acted JUST like russians, unredeemable monsters only sowing destruction everywhere... all until the third game decided to give them motivations, which is both unrealistic, and cheap, as it tried to make people sympathetic for literal omnicidal murderbots. Despite all before that establishing that even considering their viewpoint is cult-like indoctrination.

United Nations recognized Republic of China, in Taipei, as legitimate government of China. Later, they switched to PRC for some reason. But for many years Taiwan aka ROC was THE China and PRC was unrecognized. Similarly, the russia, aka russian federation, DOES NOT EXIST in UN charter, in fact they were never recognized and are illegitimate claimers of USSR's seat on the security council, while BOTH Ukraine and Belarus were founding members of UN. So if you read small print, yeah, neither Taiwan nor russia are countries... unfortunately, UN de facto gives russian terrorists absolute power over everything, so for all intents and purposes, United Nations is a joke and should never be taken seriously.

@basilofgoodwishes4138 States in China did see their country as one, and that whole war was about unification, not independence... and starting with Han, which came right after Qin's two-generation rule (which, in turn, united the country as the result of the Warring States war), Chinese people did assume a common identity, and forced that on conquered peoples. Greeks were also colonizing far and wide by he point of Persian invasions, having colonies from Cyrene in Lybia and Syracuse in Sicily, all way to Odessos in Bulgaria and Olbia, Chersonesus, Theodosia and others cities in Ukraine, they kept a common cultural identity, and built Gymnasiums, where... only Hellene males were admitted. So they HAD TO have some sort of unifying identity, even if they were ethnically diverse, had several dialects and local gods, you still have them recognizing a Hellene/Greek identity all way to 7th century BC. And yeah, the Olympics. Arabs today is good comparison because much like Greeks and Chinese, plenty of non-related peoples were "converted" to their culture.

Note that after Hideyoshi died, the Toyotomi Shogunate eased persecution on Christianity (while still hating foreigners), but after losing Sekigahara, a lot of Christian daimyos were on the Western Army side, so they lost power (in Yukinaga Konishi's case, also his head), and a few Tokugawa emperors and many discriminatory edits later, the Shimabara rebellion led by a Catholic boy Amakusa Shirou broke out, and Christianity was outright banned after Buddhists massacred all Christian women and children. Surprisingly, in the shadows, Japanese Kirishitans as they called themselves, kept their faith alive for over two centuries in isolation.

@missyw2088 this is one of those things where priests absolutely went ape-t and decided to combine AT LEAST THREE different characters (Mary of Bethany, Mary of Magdala and "sinful woman" from Luke) into one, AND assume she's a s3x worker. (Because no way a woman could have sinned by, say, being a thief or something)... All three are associated with anointing, but under VASTLY different circumstances.
Mary the sister of Martha washed Jesus feet (common courtesy at the time tho she went a few steps further) when they all were at Lazarus place in Bethany, and her sister Martha was chastising her for lazying about instead of doing chores, which Jesus cut short by saying that her service in listening is not lesser... That's in Luke. In John, however, she used oils to anoint Jesus feet and it was Judas Iscariot who complained that they could have sold the perfume and gave the money to the poor, with a footnote that he didn't care for them, but was a thief and often stuck his hand in the cookie jar.
Matthew and Mark have the anointing AND complaining, but without naming Mary OR Judas. Their stories sound second hand retold while John's sounds more private.
The unnamed woman sometimes associated with her was at a party hosted by a Pharisee named Simon, he was chastising Jesus for not having a predjustice against her... It is NOT specified why she was considered "sinful", monks just can't take their minds out of the gutter. She also washed Jesus feet and anointed Him, and Pharisee got roasted with parables of the guy getting the bigger debt forgiven loving the debtor more than the one who got less written off.
^ these stories are different but thematically very similar, accepting an assertive woman who doesn't take the traditional role, getting chastized by onlookers, and the anointing of head or feet, usually with nard perfume. Technically, it could be all the same woman, but it's simpler to assume separate characters in narrative. We don't have the sources synoptic Gospels used.
Magdalene, however, is described as a sponsor who traveled with them basically, so she was definitely well off, and she DIDN'T KNOW Jesus was already anointed, so she went with other women to carry myrrh to the tomb, and found it empty. If she was EITHER of previous women, she wouldn't have tried to do that. Narratively speaking, she would be there to hear "she anointed me for my burial".
Anointing is a huge symbolic point as it's required for high priests and the King, that's why it's in all four gospels, though Mary of Bethany does it in one, unnamed woman in others, and Magdalene in none.

Fifth Element is a perfect movie. Everything in it, from atmosphere, sets and the cast to the balance of sci-fi, comedy and action, it's got perfect length and world building as it says what it needs in exactly the runtime. Also had gorgeous visuals and sound design. None of it looks brown, muddy, or too dark.
It is the most European thing set in America possible (a migrant war vet from Germany in New York and Ukrainian-Balkan mixed girl with no silicone meet Bilbo Baggins and a Jewish priest, together they watch the opera and stop an Englishman finishing in OF COURSE Egyptian ruins while wearing Gautier costumes in a French film).
There's also a cameo by Malotru from the Bureau of Legends... And Chris Tucker is genuinely funny.
Also the American President of the future is bloody stone cold Lloyd Austin. We like him, he gives weapons... The deaf guy? He's a meme AGAIN when we are given MRAPs instead of fighter jets and long range missiles. Hard to find a film more beloved on Ukraine. Shame Luc Besson kinda stopped making sci-fi, Valerian was a mess but still had style, eyebrows, Ukrainian flags in soace (and no russia in the future) and the Rihanna scene.
I miss French cinematography in those rare cases when they stop trying to make artful stuff and go with blockbusters.

Worse, there wouldn't be any way a decade ago if US did SOMETHING for us, but no, Obama imposed an arms embargo ON UKRAINE to "avoid escalation", you know, for "peace in our time" letting ru just keep Crimea and parts of Donbas. Meanwhile, Germany built a new pipeline to avoid paying Ukrainians for transit... Hundreds of thousands are dead because Americans decided to punish the victim and EU held ITSELF hostage by getting dependent on sniffing mordor's gas. Did they learn the lesson? Let's see, factories moved out of China? NO, they are in fact looking for revenues to replace Taiwan. The cowardly, extremely corrupt West, is ALWAYS siding with the imperialistic colonial aggressor. Always.

Don't play it down though, the US politics are STALE, it's gerontocracy led by old white men (with a few old white women like Pelosi sprinkled in), and believe it or not - changing your government's demographics absolutely helps with making your country better, you can't just have GET OFF MY LAWN types who went to the same class deciding everything for a century! This isn't about "diversity", it's about rotation and not having the same club in power for 80 years! Like come on, in what world is Trump, a huge friend of the Clintons, from the very same generation and same country clubs and same Epstein flight lists, fresh? He's not draining the swamp, he IS the swamp.

@thastayapongsak4422 No, Christianity teaches that soul is immortal and contradicts reincarnation. Also, to contrast, Penitent Thief story teaches that a repentance is enough, period. No karma, no dues to pay, you're free as soon as you repent – it was important to note that the Thief was already crucified, so it was physically impossible for him to repay anything or become good or whatever in life, as he died soon after, and in tradition becomes the FIRST person to follow Jesus into heaven.
One of traditional beliefs is before Resurrection, souls awaited in Sheol, Judaist underworld similar to Greek Hades. But note that there wasn't one view in Jewish faith on that, i.e. in New Testament we see conflicts between Sadducees, an aristocratic denomination that didn't have afterlife, and Pharisees, which was the denomination later Rabbinic Judaism was founded upon, which shares a lot of beliefs with Christianity, despite being THE most critiqued religion by Jesus in Gospels. There were also other splinters like Essenes (of Dead Sea Scrolls fame) living a hermit lifestyle in caves and rebellions Zealots, which put minor religious differences aside as they considered fighting back against Rome more important.
And Purgatory is a mostly-Catholic concept closer to Buddhist Arahant, but it's not based on canon. IIRC, there's still debates between salvation based on Faith and salvation based on Deeds (and views that work in both and/or either), but the somewhere-in-the-middle temporary place between heaven and hell is not a widely followed belief.

@katnerd-Glen it's more complex than that. Nation was your social status, not ethnicity, and it was kept through centuries, yet could be changed legally too. Nationalism, as we know it today, didn't exist back then, but cultures were separated, and there were different laws and courts for Egyptians and Hellenes, though all of that could be blended due to intermarriage, as many Greeks married Egyptian women. For example, only "Hellenes" (of any ethnicity) were allowed in gymnasiums (which included sports games). AFAIK, only Greeks could be Citizens of a Polis, like Alexandria, but it was a cultural identity - not ethnic. Hellenes were never more than 5-10% of population in Egypt anyway. And it could be changed, much like citizenship. Egyptians who took part in specific army units changed their national identity to Persian, for example.
The game kinda touches on that, where a friend of Bayek changes his name to Greek-sounding one to participate in the chariot races. It went other way around, Egyptian women, for example, had much more rights than Hellene ones, and could own property, run a business, and represent themselves in courts, yes, including Greek courts, while Greek society was much more misogynist, and they had to have a man speak in woman's place. So in some ways Egyptians had more rights, in other ways - Greeks. Some elite units had to be Pesian. Nothing of that was related to your blood, mind you, more the family you were raised in. It was nowhere near modern day racism though.

If this government refuses to persecute people who allowed a russia-backed referendum in their country, after disasters russian meddling brought to Ukraine, USA, Spain, and narrowly avoided by Netherlands, than yeah, they are completely inept. Whoever instigated Brexit should be rotting in jail, or at least have a warrant on his head for separatism, much like Pidgemont is barred from Spain for the very same pro-russian separatism. But nope, brits want to have VODKA, BORIS AND VLADIMIR, SUKA BLYAT!!1

To play the devil's advocate, there's a lot wrong with most elections and you can only see it from afar, there are tons of coutries where you have NO IDEA how could someone vote for, say, Orban, Fico, Netanyahu, or Le Pen, they're openly corrupt but citizens are so overwhelmed with local issues and programming directed at them they fail to notice the big picture. Trust me, if we swap wannabe Mussolinis around, they would all catastrophically fail running for office in another context, i.e. there's no way AfD platform would resonate in Midwest USA, and no way GOP policies sound non-crazy in EU. So main goal of every political populist is to make people stare at the trees so close, they never had a chance to notice the forest behind.

We in Ukraine believe the Westerners are intentionally sucking russian oily pipes because the West is extremely corrupt. Look at Schroeder getting taxpayer millions while literally working for russian fossil fuel companies. OF COURSE a country as corrupt as Germany will keep doing everything they can so their politicians will keep getting high on russian gasses, as UK keeps hosting oligarchs in Londongrad, and France hasn't recovered for being sold to Gaddafi by Sarkozy.
It's an absolute embarrassment when we see Mussolini-land try to force Ukrainian kids (!) to sing along with russians in San Remo, as Pope forces rape victim to hug the rapist. There's zero trust in the West after Budapest memorandum, as Macron keeps selling what's left to China, USA STILL refuses to close our sky, and likes of Scholtz keep talking about "not attacking russian soil" while we DIE because NATO keeps blocking planes from being sold to Ukrainians.
The war should be NOT on Ukrainian soil. Period. Anyone suggesting otherwise is a genocidal monster who declared 40 million people expendable. Take the war to russia or it will be taken to European Union. The moscow should look like Mariupol at least... and unless West changes (with russia chairing UN, fat chance, this world isn't worth saving), Paris, Berlin and Rome should look like that as well. Only Ukraine matters, nobody else fights. Every other country deserves Darwin award.

Their "annexation" included Zaporizhzhia, a city they NEVER even approached, imagine staging a referendum to annex New York from Siberia, same vibes. Anyway, leaving Kherson for them politicially is the same as... well... not capturing Zapo city, which they, again, couldn't even approach. For us, however, since Kherson, Zapo, Donetsk, Luhansk and Simferopol have the same status in russian eyes, it eases the arguments to push onwards to Crimea, as some ultra-corrupt western journalists and politicians attempted to frame Crimea as special case for Kremlin's money. It is not. Ukraine reclaiming Sevastopol, Simferopol, Yalta, Mariupol, Donetsk, Melitopol and Luhansk is the same as holding to Zaporizhzhia and Kherson. The ruskies were calling even Odesa a "russian city", the only russians almost reaching it are now at the bottom of the sea, so? They will never take it. And their escape from Ukrainian Crimean AR should be as rapid as from Kherson, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and Mykolaiv.

Dude does give the vibes of "buy my training I am a superspy with tantric secrets of CIA, KGB, DARPA, IOC, 1337 & Mother Dalai Ghandi"...
His references are all too obvious like Snowden out of all people (who, since, stopped being a whistleblower and openly revealed himself to be putin's agent).
Also, the "Ukraine proxy war" narrative, proxy war between who, Lithuania and North Korea? Whose proxy russia is FFS, judging by who makes their missile components it's proxy of USA. SO it's a proxy war between two US-backed sides? Nothing makes sense.
You have very clear imperial war of aggression to re-colonize a former colony and people try to turn it into a spy thriller. Some things are just simple and don't need any conspiracies to explain.

You forgot Nefertiti. She's the top 3 known Egyptians with Cleo and Nef's stepson, who, well... Tutankhamen is mostly known for his tomb, his reign was uneventful apart from restoring polytheism. The sequel to Ramses is also famous for the Percy Shelley poem Ozymandias, which mocks his "look at my works, ye mighty and despair" inscription that was found in a field of endless sand (like, WHAT works, lmao)... he's also an OP Rider. Cyrus is definitely most famous Persian, as he's the guy from Bible who Jews respect for freeing them from captivity, and screwing over Babylon and the Morpheus ship guy (don't ask me to spell Nebucah... Nobyhedzazzar), Herod is INfamous baby-killer from New Testament... Well, if Bible is your main source, I'd say the most famous pharaoh is the Exodus one BUT nobody knows his name... Obviously David and Solomon are the more famous kings from there. Finally, Leonidas is known for how he lost the battle so hard that Berserker guy steamrolled and burned down Athens to the ground. HOWEVER, Herodotus started the tradition of Europeans glorifying losses and building heroic propaganda around them, so Spartans became the first to lose so legendarily before things like Borodino, Light Brigade's Charge and Pearl Harbor copied the pattern by immortalizing heroism by the losing side in military disasters (it helps if the side who lost the battle won the war in the end though).
Still, Cleopatra and Ceasar are the most popular historical figures of all time, period. Even German leaders literally called themselves Kaiser like up to WW1... russian word Tsar is literally just a form of Caesar. All because of a guy who got crazy over his Egyptian lover and decided to deify himself like pharaohs did in Egypt. The only one who can rival this couple in popularity is MAYBE Alexander the Great on male side, but there's no woman in history who's as well known as Cleopatra the seventh, Philopator.

@KutWrite Dunno why you speak of titties but there's nothing clear, not only we have different line between David and Shealtiel and Zerubbabel, in Bible there's a long tradition of describing men begetting sons, and unless you have proof of mpreg, it's more likely they mentioned women.
Conflict between writing down patrilineal heritage but kids obviously coming through matrilineal was very widespread in the region, and it led to 3000 years of pharaohs marrying their sisters (or brothers in case of Cleo) SO THEY DON'T HAVE TWO SEPARATE DYNASTIC TREES, and have one... family wreath.
Since these two lines vary so much, and we don't have sources Either authors might have used, the two main views are that EITHER one of them describes Mary's lineage, OR that one follows legal and other biological lineage (i.e. ignoring the adoptions).
But then in first option they need to be cousins, in English version of Sailor Moon sense, and in second it's complicated network of brothers dying childless. Genealogies are the most confusing part, and it doesn't help that nobody really cares so it doesn't get cleared up.
Don't blame scholars: it took them 1500 years to notice that Bethany and Magdala aren't even in the same region. And not every Mary is the same and unnamed women aren't, in fact, all necessary another Mary (or the same Mary). Oy, it's like a Mexican Bat Mitzvah!

3:40 We know Egyptians put sand below their copper and bronze tools, and a lot of water to cool it off, it was sand that did the cutting, not the tool itself... I wonder how stone age tools were used, like they didn't have versatility or convenience of metal, and couldn't be as easily repaired or sharpened. IIRC, Mesoamerican and Andean civilization did some no less magnificent construction just bashing stone on stone, with differently shaped tools to start the cut, finish it, and then polish. I also heard that nobody knows who built the stonehenge as when Celts arrived it was already in place... No writing so not much way to know their self-name, probably some "crooked pottery culture" or whatever.

@TonyJack74 Exodus is a national myth, a story that serves as a basis for Jewish nation. Arguing about its historicity is as dorky as trying to explain agriculture with Parable of the Sower, missing the entire point. Exodus didn't just happen once, it's celebrated every Passover, and it's a story about Egypt that repeated in Babylon, then Roman Empire and even going as far as 1990s Aliyah from USSR. That's why people trying to find "the Exodus pharaoh" will never match him, he was Ramses, Nebuchadnezzar, Vespasian, the Austrian painter, and even Brezhnev.
Christian Easter is directly related too, as Jesus just replaces the actual lamb (animal sacrifice as per story) as the Lamb of God, but you can't have Pascha without Pesach.

@Mark_GL yes, also Assad, Lukashenko, Kims, and the Ayatollah. They're the ones that are left but 20th century had some of the worst guys in history, apart from known WW2 ones, I want to highlight how batshit insane Pol Pot was, also Yugoslavia leaders (Milosevic, Mladic, Karajic), the most shocking of which is they did Unit 731 level stuff in 1990s.

Swords and gaps and armor comment above doesn't make sense for me. HEMA is not for war, it's dueling stuff. In war you don't get to fence, but either poke/shoot stuff in formation, or, as cavalry, ride into them and that guy loading the cannon is just trampled, armor helps against arrows, not a horse charge.
@Specter_1125 yeah in current war the ONLY time I've seen pistols being used is testing russian armor. Which actually blocks a pistol shot from point blank. Otherwise there's very little use in weapon of this range when most strikes are within artillery range, even with tanks.
Using a sword from horseback was absolutely a thing, because when mounted the range difference spears have over swords doesn't matter as much - your goal would be to either ram into formation as shock cavalry, or, as light cavalry, scout and raid into weak points (say, artillery unit).
Not talking about rare WW1+ modern use but, like, Napoleonic wars period, when cavalry was still used traditionally, but armor was most phased out (though a cuirass breastplate would be sometimes used too).

@Jason Kimball OMG, you are russia supporter. Move to ruski federation, enjoy that communist heaven they built!.. putin huilo, an actual KGB colonel from Soviet commie party, what a champion of the right you found!!! xD In Kremlin. Moscow. A literal communist putin is your hero!.. Farewell, I am not arguing with someone who believes russian media and quotes them like you. They are the fake news, like the crucified boy story, crying cows and the Ukrainian junta, and you believe THEM?.. You've got some cosmic levels of ignorance.
Finally, yes, all russian media reported "we won elections in USA" in 2016 "Our Trump Wins!" was every headline, hell, russian parliament had a standing ovation and drank champagne when they announced the exit polls of USA elections in 2016. Openly. But keep drinking their Kool-Aid and say that it's raining!

Dude your entire first point is screaming about skin color of a MYTHOLOGICAL GOD. Like hello, are you trying to claim historical accuracy in a character who DID NOT EXIST IN REAL LIFE?! xD Also the primary sources about vikings are Ibn Fadlan and Ibn Rustah, Arab and Persian, you're literally denying one of very few things we actually know for sure. That at the very least Rus' vikings had Islamic travelers and merchants among them... wait are you doubling down on these not living with Rus', is that a new conspiracy theory?
Also "demographically honest," lmao did you do a census of populations of, say, Dnipro and Volga in 11th century? Said sources I've read mentioned Slavs and Bulgarians living in same place as Norsemen, for example, but not the percentage. We don't know... in fact, we often don't know ethnicities of so many historical peoples, like was Volodymyr the Great Slavic or Norse? What about Sviatoslav? He was sometimes depicted as a Slav, others as Attila-like steppe nomad. WE DON'T KNOW!
But I looked up the cast of Northman, and it says BJORK plays the Slav Witch. This is NOT demographically correct, Bjork is NOT Slavic! At all. It also stars AUSTRALIAN Nicole Kidman, since when she's Norse lmao? Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke, Anya Taylor-Joy how the hell are Anglos from bloody Wisconsin became demographically Scandinavians?
The only "those who seek to bring us down and make us rootless and weak" are worms in your head. There's no agenda. You're not a viking, you're a dude at a computer, a nerd they'd deal with very quickly. I can't imagine Harald Hardrada who traveled all over the world from America to Ukraine to Anatolia and died in Britain pretending vikings lived in some closed-off insular society.

Hey most of them aren't crap, it's just that apart from the Giza ones, the ones that are most famous are those that stand out. Djoser's first pyramid is already amazing, as it has actual chambers and tunnels inside (most, apart from the Great one, don't)... but yeah it's also my argument: LOOK AT OTHER PYRAMIDS! Hell, go to Google maps, or use a flight sim to just go up the Nile and see that after Giza, there's Dahshur and Saqqara necropolises. If you can't even that, play Discovery Tour in Assassin's Creed Origins, it has so many to explore! There's even a quest in the Bent pyramid lol.

Ukrainians who maintained "russian" nukes stopped doing that in 2014... The russians tried to reverse-engineer satan ICBMs made in Ukraine into sarmat, but no tests were successful. That said, they have smaller delivery measures that do work (one landed in Western Poland with a blank warhead) but only used for air defense suppression. As to nuclear tests? The russian federation didn't do even a single one in its entire existence. You read that right, since russia was founded in 1991, they didn't test a single nuke. North Korea, Pakistan, India and France are the only countries to test those after USSR collapsed.
Now it's all a moot point since it's a proven fact now that russia won't use them, and there are many reasons, starting with st petersburg becoming a crater at the moment of launch (French submarines are closer), China invading russia as retaliation and annexing Siberia, and the fact that nukes won't help in war, they're purely a political weapon: Ukrainian bunkers are made to withstand everything, so at most a nuke will destroy one unit on frontlines, but hitting both sides. And FINALLY, nuclear threats ONLY work if they're only threats. So there's ZERO reasons for poo tin to use nukes and 100500 to issue empty threats.

@Questionablexfun I think bloody John Williams was divinely inspired writing Duel of the Fates; and I hate prequels. I don't think people understand what INSPIRATION means, Divine Spark doesn't meant opening a direct portal to the Netherrealm and channeling secrets of another universe, it means what it says, a lighbulb moment with the Spirit guiding the people to create masterpieces. And as Ganntrey pointed out, when it comes to theological texts, it means staying within lines. Great example is compilers of the Genesis Creation story being INSPIRED to remove mentions a specific model of the world, unlike Babylonian account, which, by picturing flat Earth, completely discredits itself. I would say man made out of clay is also divine inspiration telling authors to describe the primordial muck in terms familiar to ancient people. As opposed to pagan religion having outright fantastical, instead of allegorical, creation myths of sun goddess belching them out from the Moon or something.

To generate AI art, people render dozens, sometimes hundreds of pictures, then select a few for upscaling, then keep fixing those with inpainting... AI art right now has so many issues I give up and use Photoshop to finish my renders, and those are meme-grade things. The biggest issues in Stable Diffusion isn't even hands, and those can be fixed manually (hehe), it's inability to tell apart relation between items and draw separate distinct people. For example, you write "red shirt, long hair" and end up with red hair, and not ginger but actually RGB red.
AI is VERY helpful for a lot of things (healing brush and auto-fill in Photoshop are AI too), but honestly, fine-tuning, for example, a voice synth, takes more effort than just speaking into microphone. Generated art IS faster than drawing, even if its bad, but it is MUCH better if you get involved, i.e. make a sketch to colorize, filter an existing image, or use control net, blender render etc. to begin. Yes, some people actually model things in a 3D program to screenshot them and put into AI art generator to make it look like drawing or photo.
Companies saying it was made by computer not a person are manipulative, they say that to rid people of copyright. AI isn't thinking or acting on its own, saying person didn't make the pic when they inputted data and tuned the details is as ridiculous as saying you didn't make a picture when you just clicked the shutter. The anti-AI sentiment is really like anti-photo one from two centuries ago. "It's not real art, the camera made it", come on. And again, if I kept drawing more I would totally use AI to help with coloring, details, and stuff like backgrounds, instead of trying to campaign against a boogeyman like a horse salesman when cars appeared.

Ironically, there are many cases in history where there WAS a more advanced (at least in stone masonry) civilization that wasn't matched for the ones that followed for some time. Like Greece or Rome. Or some of the pre-Inca Andean civilizations. None of those cases are mysterious, I mean, nobody gets surprised that a Roman aqueduct is more advanced than whatever the vandals and goths made during what was previously known as dark ages.
Why they keep trying to claim Egypt has mysterious whatever instead of admitting the cyclic nature of civilization, as dynasties fell and empires collapsed and then were reunited or conquered, which perfectly explains why, say, they suddenly stopped making pyramids, for example. For similar reasons Greeks stopped building Acropolises. Things change with time, some tech becomes obsolete, making no point to, say, maintain Greek fire recipe in gunpowder age.

@dangernoodle235 We were taught chemistry with "IMAGINE these reagents on the table, and PRETEND they are making this reaction, write it down", our school was too poor! XD We wrote down experiments by copying someone describing them in a notebook...
Your last point about distributing a human between 3 cars, I think I've seen that in videos from 2022, the butt was on one BTR, and his top part was lying on another... don't think anyone found the feet though.
This reminded me, math problems can be absolutely hilarious... and a certain professor Charles Ludwig Dogsdon wrote several books on making fun of absurdity of then-new math concepts. They were called Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking glass.
I read those as a kid many times and later they were the first books I read fully in English.
So things like Alice growing her neck endlessly or reducing to nothing, queen running on the same spot to stay in place, it's all abstract math that can't be explained by dividing an apple.
And it's a children's book, kids can understand a girl becoming smaller from eating the mushroom or the duchess screaming before she pricks her finger all right!
But my point about fruit wasn't that they can be used to illustrate all division problems, but that the concept of dividing a whole number can be illustrated with food. Negative numbers could be harder, but I don't think they should be a problem in modern day when everybody grows up with mobile games that have point scores and numbers in them.
To understand where I'm coming from, my school was teaching kids things like the rigid rule about the use of "shall" vs "will", and everybody I know went to EXTRA English courses and basically nobody speaks it decently, when I skipped school and played videogames... in English.
Like we can admit the school and extra-curricular courses failed when Bioware games turned out to be a better teacher (without even trying) compared to guys who paid money to end up limited by "London is the Capital of Great Britain" (which isn't even the correct country name).

16:07 So one major differences, even if we apply SUPER-critical view on Bible, it still would have Cyrus the Great, Nebuchadnezzar II, multiple named pharahos mentioned elsewhere, cross-reference with Babylonian, Greek and Roman stuff, AND Hebrews themselves mentioned by other nations, i.e. Merneptah and Tel Dan steles, while Book of Mormon is pretty much what is known as a "forgery", i.e. a 19th century book claiming to be a Medieval poetry collection.

14:00 WAIT, you JUST said that there's no way Middle-Eastern peasants could learn of Krishna, how the hell would Jews in Ancient Israel learn about European pagan holidays? Easter is just English name for Pascha/Pesach, OUTSIDE of Anglophone world, we DO NOT HAVE SEPARATE NAMES FOR EASTER AND PASSOVER, one is called "Orthodox Pascha", other "Catholic Pascha", third is "Jewish Pascha", they sometimes coincide. The celebration comes from story of Exodus, so no later than Babylonian exile, and is about sacrificial lamb that protected Jews from the plagues, specifically the final one that took the firstborn – in Christian tradition, Jesus IS the Lamb of God, and His sacrifice is celebrated, but otherwise it IS the same holiday.
Reason I am pedantic with that is because the "people in Middle East stole muh tradishuns from white Europeans" is absolutely playing into their "ancient aryan" hypothesis. Christian Pascha comes from Jewish Pesach, there's absolutely no way around it... Claiming anything else is kind of like denying that Christianity began as a branch of Judaism.

Yup, and for people who think five color sets are weird grouping blue (sky/sea) and green (grass) together, the "BLUE" in English already groups what is actually two separate colors in some other languages, like Ukrainian or that canceled one. Rainbow has seven colors, a base 6 or 5 system just groups blue-adjacent colors together (indigo in English description of rainbow just means the darker blue, it's the lighter shades that have separate word like celeste or azure or blakyt, or the russian slang for gay, not kidding). The invaders also have separate words for orange fur and orange marker, for example, they would describe my cat with same word they do the place they dig trenches to grow a third arm, "рыжий". Color descriptions are weird!

Touché. You are trying to laugh at people who say "government is lying to you about shape of the Earth", because you debunk only the second part... Do I think tRump's government lied about vaccines, warp speed and all? No. Pfizer ones are good. Do I think Obama and Merkel lied when they said russian reboot is good and putin won't invade? Of course, I can hear the explosions outside my window... I deliberately chose one time the orange was on the right side, he supported vaccinations, and the horrible foreign policy of the West before (and during) his administration...
Governments aren't to be trusted. Western media lied about white-washing putin so many times, we in Ukraine consider New York Times a Kremlin-run paper... what it doesn't mean that russian media is better, it's WAY worse, like you can literally do the opposite they suggest, all the time. Problem in conspiracy nuts isn't that they're skeptical of mainstream but that they blindly believed it and then got their trust betrayed, so now become reactionaries who think that for some silly reason your government wants you to die instead of being healthy and paying more taxes forever.
Does anyone REALLY think that proving the Earth isn't a dinosaur shape would somehow stop gullible people from thinking the guys who sold weapons to Iraq, AND Iran, and currently export missile components to russia think about your well-being? No. The problem isn't mistrust in the government, which is warrented, it's blindly trusting foreign, hostile governments... like FFS, just because NATO leaders are crooked and want to buy oil from russians without those pesky Ukrainians complaining doesn't mean you can bloody believe in TikTok under Chinese Communist party's watchful eye!

32:13 In Ukraine we have a village idiot from Tiraspol named Valeria Lukyanova, better known under various aliases like Amatue, Nakhema and Baginya ("gaddess," yes, misspelled), and she is most famous for heavily photoshopping her photos (poorly but enough for media to label her Ukrainian Barbie), and being really, REALLY dumb. SO among her claims of Out of body experiences, claims of being from Atlantis and living on a "breathetarian" diet, she claimed to be from Pleiades. This guy is literally dumber as he managed to miss one of first thing their little new age pseudo-historical cult does. (Oh they're also all white supremacist, that Atlantis/Pleiades/Hyperborea claim is used for that, it was like that since Helena Blavatskaya).

Polish words aren't hard, it's the way it's using Latin that makes it ridiculous, for example, Rzeszow is pronounced close to Jeshoov. Using Cyrillic, first FOUR letters in Szczecin would be replaced with ONE, Щ. You know, like Croatian song Mana ŠČ on 2023 Eurovision... but you can see even Croats managed to use Latin more effectively, with its limitations. There are many ways to go about it, for example the "zhzh" in Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia could be spelled with "g", like Peruggia. I guess the closer you are to Italy, the easier you find to use their weird script (that includes weird things in English like quququwuqe).

I made Ashley shoot Wrex, then left her with the bomb, killed Maelon, destroyed his data, sacrificing Eve as the result, sabotaged the genophage cure, making the krogan race die out as the result, all so I can save Mordin Solus, who doesn't even appear in the game anyway, (just sends you a text message), and will die of old age as salarians rarely live past 40 (and he's 50) Tali voice: "worth it". Speaking of that, try doing other unusual stuff like telling on Tali's father to the tribunal despite her objections – this will give a lot of her character's background info that most players skip (as this removes her loyalty). just don't send her into vents after that

4:44 Neither do many other languages, a cousin would be "двоюрідний брат" literally second-relation brother, and "двоюрідна сестра", a second-relation sister. On the other hand, English doesn't have words for "теща", "тість", "свекр", "зять", "золовка", "шурін", etc. they're all mother-father-sister-brother-whatever-in-law. In fact, there's a different term for a husband's MiL, "теща", and wife's MiL, "свекруха". This is like with colors, you have separate words for of pink, and magenta or purple and violet etc., but "синій" і "голубий" are both "blue".

@xXMangoXx_ Opera was a legit third browser between Firefox and IE in era before Chrome, it was faster and sleek, but less customizable than FF, they also had really good mobile apps earlier than others (back when compressing traffic was relevant). But moving to Chromium, the default Opera started to suck, half the team split and made Vivaldi which is closer to older UI but less compatible, and now there's THREE forks of Opera, ALL on Chromium engine, and they chose to be annoying with ads.
I am using Firefox mostly now, but have second and third browsers installed just in case, working from home you can have separate setups for work (usually something basic like Chrome) and leisure, as many proprietary plugins and apps various projecs want are Chrome only. To me, Opera turning what it is now is digital version of Nokia becoming another mediocre smartphone brands. GX I installed just ones BY MISTAKE (ads are TOO intrusive) and deleted immediately, Discord integration in regular browsers is already too distracting.

Well, wars have rules that both sides are supposed follow, like not killing surrendered troops, or not deliberately endangering civilians (hence bans on incendiaries within residential area limits). There are also treaties than some countries don't join, like against cluster bombs, neither Ukraine nor USA nor russia will stop using them. Yanks did comply with anti-personnel mines regulations to limit civilians later finding them... But with the rest, well there's a difference between hitting a supply depot or a bridge, and shelling a drama theater that has children in it.
Contrary to popular belief, doing more war crimes does NOT help win wars, after russians used every guided bomb they had to kill kids in Mariupol they couldn't destroy Azovsteel plant anymore. So war crimes are often waste of ammo in addition to being abhorrent. Pol Pot fixed that issue by throwing children into trees instead. The russians cut our heads with knives. But it only makes people hate them more.
Another problem is international fallout. Notice how russians, which made mass rape, torture and terror on civilians their method of war, never use chemical weapons or nukes... In all of their wars. Why? They are afraid for their Londongrad mansions, French riviera dachas and Spanish coast cottages where most russian families live. So they do genocide with conventional weapons that the West is okay with and gives russian neo-Nazis Oscars and lets war criminals publish their memoirs in Paris... Yes, it's disgusting.
The russia used their Soviet stock of cruise missiles to do war crimes on civilians for entire autumn and winter. They wasted precious long range missiles so my grandma would sit in a blackout for a few months. That killed her, but they still didn't capture Bakhmut, my mom's hometown, since august. Had they followed laws of war they wouldn't waste so many shells to kill people in breadline in Mykolaiv that russian troops cannot reach, and actually attacked our soldiers at the frontlines more.
@Robert Stallard yes we do. The goal in any war is to make it so the enemy's fighting force can no longer fight. That's the goal, the rest are just means achieving it. There's a good quote in Living Daylights about it from a Mujahideen hero: "I don't care if the Russians die from my bullets or their opium!" Our goal is to destroy their forces so hard they never recover and their country collapses again, to do exactly what Afghanistan did defeating the Soviet Union but harder. And this time, don't make mistake and send them humanitarian aid, let them eat each other. That's why every Ukrainian is lobbying sanctions on complete embargo and ban on trade with russia forever. And canceling companies that sell them anything.

If that was possible, all politicians will make a copyrighted badge and necktie and sue every journalists that photographs them doing drugs with underage prostitutes with oily bribe money. NO, journalism should be free, period. Any attempts of banning photography of people, ESPECIALLY famous ones, outside of protected military installations, should be combated with full force. I don't care how much celebrity you are, if your name is Weinstein, Trump, Epstein, Cosby or R. Kelly, your pictures should be allowed to be published, with EVERYTHING you've done in the open.

@eddiezanryder anyone denying man made climate change at this point is a conspiracy nut. No, the world won't just flood completely, but it will have other cataclysms, like heat waves RIGHT NOW, tornadoes, quakes, or climate anomalies like snow in summer. ALL because of men's folly.
Look at russia, it's burning, flooding and having locust swarms... for funnier event, they had worshipers at military temple of war struck by lightning. Of course our Ukrainian drones can do God's will and help. But the climate? Thanks to ExxonMobil, Total, BritishPetroleum and Lukoil...
No sane person would defend oil companies, regardless of your beliefs and political stance. There's a saying "after us, the deluge". This is what the story is about. Corrupt people not caring what happens after them and dooming everybody else... don't need to read to see fossil fuel billionaires destroying our planet.

@Areg SARKISYAN the circumference was counted by Eratosthenes, by measuring shadows in Alexandria and Syene (Aswan), Egypt. You know, in Africa. Not Greece. In 3rd century BC, which makes it ~2300 years. Greeks, though, knew it was round way before that, but first globe was built by... Crates of Mallus, in Cilicia, modern Turkey. But Earth being a sphere was mentioned by Greek and Persian astronomers before, so people in at least three continents knew that in BC era.

@MaxSoininen Dracula is very clearly Romanian. Wallachia is one of regions of Romania. But Dracula isn't even associated with it, but Transylvania, a bordering region. In Bram Stoker's version of the story, he's an ethnic Hungarian, but he STILL rules from a castle in Transylvania that yes, borders Wallachia, both Romanian regions.
Since the topic is about Americans claiming Nottingham, please don't be like them and pretend that Irishmen can somehow claim castles in Eastern Europe. P.S. Countess Bathory's castle is near, in Slovakia. Unlike real life Vlad Dracula, she was actually Hungarian in real life, and not just because Bela Lugosi had a thick accent.

Most oil russia sells goes directly into Europe, it's EU who sends russians billions every week, not China or India. If you want a list of people with most trade with russia, it will probably start with likes of Switzerland, who QUADRUPLED imports from russia this year, Italy is also very close... plus the typical list of ultra-corrupt countries: Germany, Austria, France. They are the biggest providers of weapons and tech for russia: French optics, German engines, Austrian and Italian gears that make russian vehicles roll. Second biggest must be USA, since we find Texas Electronics chips in their drones. Third is Iran, followed by Israel (most "russian"-made drones are Israeli design just assembled in russia) and North Korea. Ofc Chinese are also somewhere there but their biggest trade partner is USA, while EU really likes oil from russia... their pilots fly on fuel from Total and BP.

@minestar2247 name three atheist scientists who invented something people actually use. I deliberately looked it up, and between cars, electricity, gunpowder, alcohol, pasteurization, refrigerators, an so on, going WAY back to scientific method itself developed in Golden Age of Islam based on Greek pagan sciences, I can't find THREE atheistic scientists who did something useful. Most things that were invented all track to someone having either traditional boring going-into-local-church-on-holidays background or some extra wacky beliefs like Newton...
Like it seems at this point all atheists do is write books and complain about religion online. Atheism is like a religious version of veganism. They just keep pestering and annoying people to no end without being asked... At least they don't get their way in government anymore, we had that from 1920 in Ukraine, got rid of forced atheism in 1991 and are never going back, though people have freedom to be unbelievers, every Lenin statue still gets its head chopped off... And no, tech bros theorizing about crypto and making a slave colony on Mars isn't helping.
IMO Korolev the Ukrainian rocket man sending a гussіаn into space was a noble goal, but he failed by not sending them all. /s TBH
