  1. If you make it automatic, you're more likely to indicate when other traffic can see it, though! I tend to still stick out my arm when alone, like the good little girl I was raised to be (40 years later 😂)

  2. Huh - the broken lines always feel like suggested bike lanes to me too, and I've lived here my whole life! Time to read up on them. Edit: so they're only suggested bike lanes if the road is red beyond the broken lines (and real bike lanes if there are bikes painted onto the red road), but otherwise, according to the province of Drenthe at least, they indicate a need to be ready for traffic slowing down to turn off or traffic suddenly entering the road from driveways! Fits with slow and careful driving, in other words
