  1. My heart breaks a little for all those people who barely get by. I've been okay financially because of a steady job in the Netherlands, a partner with a better paying job and the fact that we got lucky on the house market. Oh, and we didn't want kids so we don't need to afford them - and that's extra fortunate because I have chronic fatigue. I still plan to revisit Japan in the coming years but it will take extra energy to plan it out!
