  1. What an amazing, touching, beautiful story! It reminds me of the remote islands dotting the coast of Norway, and the remote farms in the mountains, which have also often been slowly abandoned, leaving only one ageing couple living there year-round, until they can't make the trek anymore and do what this man does. If you're interested, watch the NRK series Der Ingen Kunne Tru At Nokon Kunne Bu. (Also, for a moment at the start, I thought you'd got your boat license just to traverse this lake, lol!)
