  3. The obesity epidemic is so sad and infuriating. It's even happening to my own little brother now. He's only 14 and he stuffs himself and my mom won't make him stop. I'm an adult with my own life and home to worry about so I can't be on his case 24/7, not to mention it strains our relationship as siblings for me to always be acting like the mom.

  8. The guy isn't very sneaky. He says they offer a 50% markup for premium cocoa that's farmed sustainably. He didn't say that they refused to buy cocoa that's not farm sustainably or that uses child labor. He's just saying that they will offer more money for it if it's farm sustainably. Which from a business standpoint probably means that they don't buy any sustainably firmed Coco because it's more expensive for them as a company.

  12.  @gillsejusbates6938  excuse you? I'm jealous of healthy bodies with a little extra jiggle. I am not jealous of obese people. Which is completely different than having a few extra pounds. Yes I am underweight and I do wish I weighed more. But I fear for my brother's future as he is overweight already and obesity runs in his father's family. Obesity is real it does kill people and it does destroy their quality of life.

  13. This is why housing shouldn't cost money you should buy it from the person who owned it last you take care of it yourself and you pay utilities. Utility should be kept at a reasonable price. Inflation only applies two items that can be scarce. Money can never be scarce because it is whatever we say it is and most of it these days is digital. Inflation should not be applicable to money. It doesn't matter how much money one country has in their economy versus another because no two countries have the exact same amount of people living in them. There is literally not one single logical reason for inflation to apply to money ever. Food should cost less than it used to not more. We've only gotten better at Mass producing it. Our machinery has gotten better at harvesting it and faster. Again there is no logical reason that food prices should have gone up. They go up because of greed. Inflation of money exists because of greed. The cost of gas is something that should go up with the amount that we have left for example. It is a finite resource that we will one day run out of. Therefore it makes sense that the price of gas rises. However the cost of everything else should continue to go down. Houses should continue to get cheaper as it is easier to build them. Cars should get cheaper as it becomes easier to build them and takes less people. Technology should get cheaper as it gets easier to build, but this does not account for some of the rare materials used in making of screens and such. It should be illegal to throw out anything with a screen on it whether it is working or not. It should have to be recycled, and recycling of technologies should be easy for everyone. What are we going to do when we run out of the rare materials that they used to create screens? There are so many ways we could be doing better, and I am but a mere 27 year old living in Michigan with a mismatched mediocre education. I'm not claiming to be super smart so if I can see what problems this world faces and the solutions to them, you know God damn good and well that the leaders understand them too they just refuse to do what is right by the billions of people living on this planet, all for their own gain.

Not to mention your God doesn't belong in public schools anyways. children are free to pray and read their Bibles all they want in school, if they don't it's because they don't care about doing it. Kids are even allowed to have prayer groups, they just have to be student led and cannot be mandatory. So again, if your child is not doing these things in school it's because they don't want to, not because they're not allowed. If you want your child to get a religious education you need to pay for a private school.

  21. Americans aren't taught about how their bodies work. And they're not taught about how birth control works either. I know several women who had a baby on birth control because they're gynecologist didn't think to tell them what other medications would cancel out their birth control. I've always been naturally curious so I asked a lot of questions and I look a lot of things up. Do to that natural curiosity I learned a long time ago how to control my fertility without birth control but most American women aren't so lucky. They're taught so little about reproduction that they literally get pregnant on birth control. All the time.

  43.  @tealatata  yep you hit the nail on the head. The south (the bible belt) has the highest rates of teen pregnancies and they also don't make their students learn sex ed at all. Most southern schools teach abstinence based "sex ed". Even here in the north my education was pathetic in that regard. I know many women I went to school with who have more than one kid and still live at home because they got pregnant unexpectedly and they live in an area with no affordable housing.

That was 100% because of the rapists and murderers running rampant. Religious people are even more so annoying because they can't even read their own goddamn books. They don't even read them. I was raised in Baptist Churches, and by the time I was 13 had read the Bible and become an atheist.

  49. I wish more Americans understood this. They eat way too much. I ate a poor diet through college and it resulted in me losing 25 lbs and now I am underweight and struggle to get back to a healthy weight. People who are overweight that aren't overweight due to medical issues are overeating by a lot. It's not just food quality. You are very much right.
