I wish you had touched on the fact that also: much of the US equipment is old equipment that is no longer in service but instead in reserves which will soon be slated for scrapping. And scrapping doesn't cost people nothing. So there's actually some savings in value even though the aid is being evaluated at list price of the items.

@DarkShroom That's quite a leap because that's NOT what he said. He spoke about the attempt to reduce men from mission-critical elements. Automaton makes economic sense but adding a person is a necessary redundancy to keep a platform from failing due to the vulnerabilities inherent within automated systems. In essence: automated in conjuction with a person is good, automated completely removing the person is bad.

Does it cost $4M to acquire or to run? Because using that for 1000 seconds (or 16 total minutes), and you're already at 75% of the cost.

I do find it quite silly that camera quality on a military aircraft is dwarfed by our own phones. I wonder if there's a reason that they look to be using CRT cameras for their monitors especially since at this point what's most in production for display screens are all 1080p at minimum. Something like that off the shelf would likely be less expensive and get the job done better. Some of these things seem rather silly.

That's really funny.
