I think that the biggest thing is that China as the aggressor fighting a civil war would basically just end the war quickly in the same way Russia or Germany surrendered

@mrobocop1666 Well it's a bit more than that. It was both things. In fact, the second bomb was dropped roughly 6 to 12 hours after the invasion of Manchuria. And it still took multiple days to try to organize an actual surrender due to the issues regarding the government at the time.

In short: China WOULD have invaded Taiwan but Russia failed so hard in Ukraine and the coalition has pumped them so hard that the Chinese basically needed to recalculate from scratch

The most likely reason for why China didn't invade Taiwan was that the invasion of Ukraine was botched by trying to invade after the Olympics and thus during mud season, and that the American reaction to it was to flood it with weapons and intelligence to make sure it could stand and fight and rounds of sanctions so heavy that almost any other economy would've collapsed under their weight, thus undoing 40 years of Chinese strategic thinking where they thought the Taiwan straight would be a quick and fast event where they could institute a fait accompli and the Americans wouldn't do anything, only to prove the exact opposite. Peter Zeihan talked about this a decent amount in some of his videos which sounded like almost an ass pull until you mentioned that China just didn't invade that spring despite all of the evidence pointing toward a potential invasion.
