  1. Yeah, Western Europe didn't actually get too much from the triangular trade. Spain got a lot of gold and silver, which gave them a temporary boost, but it eventually crashed their economy due to inflation. Even more relevant: Europe was already the wealthiest place on the continent by the time it went colonizing (look at the Nordics and Germans for more evidence on that). Realistically, the colonies didn't do too much, except for three things: Crash Spain and drag it down long term, create the British settler colonies, of which America became the biggest and thus best economy to trade with, and finally the introduction of new world crops such as the potato to Europe which helped feed the booming population of the industrializing continent.
