I'll defend wonder woman 1984 in that that movie was just not built around it. It wasn't the traditional and the movie was never about it. The villain fit the themes and it seems that the struggle for wonder woman is never actually against the villain but what's around him. Except for the cop-out in the first movie which seems like it was tacked on for a cheap fight scene and resolution because that took away from everything it was trying to say. Basically wonder woman movies have a theme and the villains have been in service to that theme and works especially well with wonder woman because she's basically a goddess among men and can honestly kick the ass of basically all of the villains with her little finger as soon as she gets to them. So it's a respectable narrative choice and one seemingly made intentionally unlike the other ones that are examples here which are clearly the result of ineptitude and incompetence.
