  1. I think what's incredibly interesting is how fast literacy increased in the US. We're at roughly 99%, but by the 1850s it was already at roughly 90%. It increased here earlier than basically everywhere else in the world, even Britain.

  2. @Lethal_Spoon  Probably? It's much less than one percent but 100% is also impossible. Also 2% of the population is below 80IQ and they struggle to function on a basic level. Thus, their literacy may be a bit more in question especially for the relatively high bar that is modern literacy
