  10.  @year4559  there's high ground hills between Bakhmut and Soledar. The trouble with that is AFU in Bakhmut requires multi-directional fighting to defend. Whereas RF, being in multiple locations, each party only required to be focused on the target directions directly ahead of their group. Plus the supply routes cut off by RF having Soledar should decrease the timetable with which AFU can hold out.

  11.  @year4559  Russia is already targeting closing off M03 highway after taking Soledar. Lysishans'k road goes through Soledar. Bakhmut is around 20km from Soledar. Blahodne is the next line of trees to be felled.
