We have a redesign of a junction and a road off it to make it more bicycle friendly here in Bielefeld and the local papers have from day one been doing the emotional appeal of "chaos" even when the roadworks started It is interesting to watch. Our city's plans aren't as radical as Amsterdam's but we are moving in the right direction.

Your channel has changed my attitudes to public space management (I use the term "public space" as "traffic" or "road" management tends still in my mind to prioritise motorised vehicles over others) I am not a bicycle user I have balance issues and have a history of falling off bicycles but as I live in the inner city area of a German city I do a lot of walking and a lot of using public transport being less than 100 m from a tram stop. As a result of your channel (and thank you for your content) I now have a small but growing number of books on public space management. I am particularly interested in that period when the "car became king" in America and have recently got hold of a book "Fighting Traffic" about the changes that you highlighted in your video and the creation of "jay-walking". Thanks once again.

The "trash pandas" are coming here in Bielefeld and more specifically in our neighbourhood we got a family of Waschbärem turn up in our garden as there was a lot of building work in the area and several gardens were redeveloped net result we got a family for a while.

@TheIdeanator It is a Canadian thing, I think.

The "trash pandas" are coming to the Netherlands I say that as they are crossing Germany We in Bielefeld in our neighbourhood just had our first "trash panda" in our garden. In the thirties raccoon skin caps were popular and some escaped and we have had a wild population ever since. They are very well suited to urban living so I expect they will migrate to the Netherlands soon.

I was sat here watching the video thinking did he use an old CRT on the side of the road or do something fancy etc. So you answered my question. That was a more pressing question as I live car ownership free and have done for over fifteen years. I do live in Germany and what is technically the edge of the inner city (a late nineteenth century bit of suburbia for rich folks) so I took the orange pill long long ago.

Your videos make a great case for traffic management I am therefore interested in reading about it I have found a secondhand copy of "Traffic in Towns" and was wondering what else might be available to read for a reader who has a mathematics and science backgroup and for getting into Oxford forty years ago got Russell and Whitehead's "Principia Mathematica" as a present and read it LOL

Our IKEA has a bus route that I think IKEA paid for as it is the "IKEA bus" It connects the tram at the end of a shopping street in one of the southern parts of town with IKEA which is on the southern ring It is likely cyclable but I wouldn't do it if I felt secure on a bike (which sadly I don't) so I am a pedestrian / public transport guy in a car sharing scheme.

I haven't owned a car since January 2007 I largely use public transport and share the specialist transport with my disabled partner I am in a car sharing scheme but since my partner's mother has died (she lived in a bad location for public transport) and covid-19 restrictions I haven't used the carsharing scheme for over 18 months. I like the range of size available especially when buying furniture.

turning the radio off or putting it on a better channel WDR§ or WDR5 rather than the Schlager channels people seem to listen to.
