I am feeling Newton's third law in my butt at the moment as I am sitting down and I am exerting and equal and opposite force on my chair as it is exerting on me - I am not accelerating so there is no net force on me.

Very Aristotelian of you.

I am currently studying (for pleasure as a retired mathematics teacher) Clifford Algebras also known as Geometric Algebra and looking at its uses in physics There are in that system items that are clearly "real" but their squares are minus one and this formalism seems to be both elegant and give explanations of phenomenon without resorting to using complex numbers I wonder whether it will ultimately be the way we understand physics using Geometric Algebra?

The interesting question from this video is when were the principles of lift first worked out. The explanations come from applying principles from other theories and I am intrigued to know when these understandings both for wing lift and sail boat lift developed?

So you are saying we are all intuitively Aristotelian in our thinking about motion.

It is interesting that even the photoelectric effect can be explained without quantising light. It can be explained by saying that the matter has specific states not light. Hence the late development of quantum optics.
