  1. My father-in-law and mother-in-law at the end of WW2 were in southern Germany and had to get home to a town on the border of the Netherlands and Germany. They talked about getting to a place and there was a train was waiting and running on time on the non-destructed railway and ran to the timetable, It travelled a certain distance until the track was destroyed and they had to get out and walk to the next bit of track.
