I am a European and have voted in every election I have been eligible to vote in I have never had to wait longer than 5 minutes except when I turned up before the polling station opened as I was busy the rest of the day. US citizens should not have to wait to vote ever.

We had a mad librarian in my college who called encyclopedias "potted knowledge" and banned them from our library The net result was that library usage at undergraduate level was very low as everyone went to the faculty libraries that he didn't control where they often started with encyclopedias and then found the books and papers they needed The net result was a beautiful 16th century library with few or no students in. That seems the style that the other place (twitter) is going for.

Republican rules seem to be you can lie but you CANNOT steal from rich donors.

Perhaps they should ONLY be able to ask for a ban on a book after they have read it from cover to cover and written a report on “why this book should be banned“ - that might slow the requests for bans.

I don't see many anti-Woke folks ripping out Genesis 9 where God places his rainbow in the sky as a sign of the first covenant. They should be destroying Bibles for their wokeness

Have you ever seen the 1986 advert by "The Guardian" called "The Guardian's 1986 'Points of view' advert" It takes the same events from three different perspectives and tells three different visual versions of the story and it sums up these folks They have edited the stories they tell to make political propaganda.

@blairhaffly1777 I wasn't sure but I am aware there was a lot of "turf wars" between the librarian and the head of the college The position of the librarian was a very senior one in the "management" and was difficult to remove. It was a very small college in a collegiate university and removing the librarian would have involved proving "gross moral turpidude" or something similar instead they allowed him to drink himself into an early grave.

@kathygallegos2502 But the racist extremist right who Tucker Carson panders to want to believe Ciudad Juarez is a $#!†hole so their racist narratives can continue to be believe.

Let's pardon him for treason and sedition - if he accepts it he can't hold office again.

My favourite term for these rightwingers like Mark Levin is that they are "mimophants" Their own feelings are as delicate as a mimosa but they trample over others feelings like an elephant or in this case a herd of elephants.

In Germany we have social rules about medical doctors If you have a medical qualification and a doctorate you get the title Dr If you are qualified as a medical doctor only you have no formal title but can describe yourself as an "Arzt" or "Ärztin" If you have a doctorate (like Jill Biden) she would formally be addressed as "Frau Dr Jill Biden" Dr Phil would unless he did research be Herr Phil.

Nick Clegg used to be a British politician he started as a member of the European Parliament and there was a very interesting program about the work of the Parliament and he figured quite strongly in it. He moved to the British Parliament and formed a coalition with the Conservative Party This did not help him or his party as they went from their largest number of seats in the British Parliament for 80+ years to the smallest for fifty years and he lost his seat.
