  4. I read Dune in 1978 when I was sixteen - it was stunning and powerful - though I think the religious material dominated in my mind but rereading it later - I see the ecological story more - it is a classic tale that can be read in so many ways.

Calling someone a pedophile or a "danger to children" with no evidence and maliciously in a public forum is basically libel - and her occupation as a teacher in a position of trust with children makes her much more vulnerable to this sort of libel and as he said it as well in public, slander. Whether UK libel / slander laws are too tightly drawn as it is the location of choice to bring these sorts of cases is a different matter but under the law he was libelous and should be fined.

  11. Well given that Garcia's racist stance - being of immigrant stock and being non-European are very relevant in this case. It is slightly worse than Csanad Szegedi who was a prominent member of the Hungarian Jobbik Party who espoused anti-semitic views and was vehement in them until he found out he himself was Jewish himself and had lost relatives in the holocaust. Haley knows the views of this man and still appoints him.

I have to say most Europeans find the current Republican party platform and attitudes completely alien and vaguely laughable that anyone who vote for them apart from a handful of very rich people. Obama would comfortably fit in the right wing of our mainstream right-of-centre parties and here in Germany we have the SPD, the Greens and the Left parties that are more left than him and they are just the parties that hold seats and form governments within Germany.
