The Canaanites were people who lived in the land of Canaan, an area which according to ancient texts may have included parts of modern-day Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.  The Canaanites are mentioned often in the Hebrew Bible. The stories say that god promised to give the land of the Canaanites (along with land belonging to several other groups) over to the Israelites after they escaped from Egypt and god ordered to annihilate the inhabitants. Therefore even the bible attests to the fact that the land of Palestine wasn't initially for the Jews. The stories told in the Hebrew Bible say that after the Israelites escaped from Egypt they fought a series of wars against the Canaanites (and other groups), which led to the Israelites taking over most of the Canaanites' land. The stories say that those Canaanites who survived had to do forced labor. Furthermore The people of modern-day Palestine and Lebanon can trace their genetic ancestry back to the Canaanites, new research finds. Thus if ethnicity is what determine the ownership of the land (as Jews claims) then the Palestinians are more rightly deserves Palestine since thier ancestors we're the Canaanites.
