Japanese design philosophy: sketch out what is needed, create blueprints, create models, add a stupid amount of weaponry onto the thing, build the ship, find out the thing is too overarmed and lightly built to be stable enough to work, fix the ship to be heavier so it works properly except it’s still not that stable, commission it, don’t mention that the ship is heavier than intended.
