A few years back, China’s fake narrative was: ancient Chinese used to fish in the Spratleys area, but when I pointed out that it was not possible for ancient Chinese to do so because of the absence of ice making machines then, China switched its fake narrative to being the owner of the whole South China Sea since they were navigating the waters then. The truth is in those days, they were too busy battling each other for land territories and titles. They never conquered any islands or large lands beyond their own until the present when oil and gas had been discovered there in the mid 20th century. Even up to the the Dutch, Spanish and English colonization, these powers never reported any Chinese junk resisting and impeding them in the SCS and claiming it as its own.
