  1. That was a bishop who had his own “scientific theory” on how the solar system should be arranged, and had used his ecclesial authority to jail Galileo. It wasn’t even a question of an official church teaching. It should be called an abuse of his own earthly power. So don’t blame the Catholic Church about this Renaissance fiasco.
