Nine-Eleven type panic? All of China’s buildings built during the 1980’s and later should all be demolished since they are all made of billions of pounds of tofu. That would mean China should start all over again, not just with the demolition and construction but the whole engineering, construction and inspection system. Unfortunately the old buildings that were built since ancient times were built to last another hundreds of years, were demolished by the CCP. There are no alternatives however but to start from total demolition of the cities, living in tents (which will be safer) and start all over again.
The Philippines, which China loved to mock as comparison to it, have simultaneously built much more advanced building management systems (many being and to be powered by renewable energy), with efficient maintenance services, designed and laid out like no Western cities (or Chinese cities) have ever conceptualized. It’s new buildings have been designed and constructed to stand for centuries and have stood against the strongest typhoons without so much a brick or tile falling on the streets. The question is, who should mock whom? Fortunately, mocking is not the way of Filipinos. There are a lot to be said about these two parallel civilizations both in their construction and management abilities and their moral values. China’s hubris about their “ancient civilization,” is just hot wind and had never produced good results for the country as one can see in their violent history. On the other hand, the development of the Philippines by way of Roman Catholicism is proving beyond a shadow of a doubt, that a more tranquil (despite some imperfections) country can result.

@GoatAficionado , 380 million due to Covid death came from Chinese woman with information based on 7,000+ crematoriums, the number of cremation per day and the number of days of operation. The 900 million population of China was reported by news based on study.
Reports of big cities such as Shanghai and others being empty, most stores closed and restaurants closed or unable to find customers is a good sign the numbers above may be accurate.
Also, what’s left of your citizens are mostly permanently disabled due to Covid infections and reinfections and from other diseases. Not to mention the psychological trauma that they’ve been subjected to and what they’re still going through. Your students have huge disruptions of their work in school and the new fees that their parents have to pay. We are talking of severe anxiety and depression and why there are so many committing suicide in your country including ones that are caused by unemployment, non payment of salaries and the large salary cuts.
Your young citizens will not be ready for world competition in all fields of endeavor in the coming generations. You will have a very week country, and your new overlords will be your neighbor, the Philippines.
There’s only so much your CCP lords can cover up in a time of social media, the internet, VPNs, Chinese citizens and foreigners with cameras and mobile phone communications. This is not anymore the time of Mao.
