Tencent VP was arrested for sharing information to the defector to the US who was collecting Tencent data as per CCP’s instructions. Now that this CCP officer had defected and is now talking to US officials confirming the narrative that Chinese companies are forced to share data with the CCP, the Tencent VP is now guilty of this “crime” of sharing data. The question is, what would this shared data be of value to the then CCP officer if it weren’t for intelligence gathering for the CCP? The Tencent VP should have made his escape to another country with his first billion dollars when he could have. Now he is in prison and who knows what they’ll do to him.
