Don’t panic. The video just got one item wrong, and it’s a common mistake.

Ok dudes, here’s the formula: P (gage) + 14.7 psi = P (absolute) ; P (gage) = P (absolute) - 14.7 psig.

To explain further: when a gage is reading zero, that means it’s not reading the atmospheric pressure. The atmospheric pressure is another 14.7 psi. In space where there is no atmosphere and therefore no atmospheric pressure, we will die. That 14.7 psi is something we do not feel because the atmospheric pressure is exerted inside and outside of our bodies. Just like fishes can live in extreme depth in the ocean, the hydrostatic pressure is exerted inside and outside their bodies.

@oldbloke135 , inhaling CO2 is psychological?

@lordgarion514 , go for it!

@oldbloke135 , I didn’t think I was in this discussion. How did we get to living in an inflatable?
1
@davidbowerman6433 , -14.7 is pure vacuum.

@wakamoli8248 , in addition, use a barometer for negative pressures as meteorologists do.
