  1. The car companies bought the lithium battery patents in the 1980’s but sat on it. They just continually simplify their car factories so they didn’t have to hire those “highly paid engineers and computer geeks.” Now they realize that they’ll have to fire their mid management and themselves (the upper management) for real engineers and totally transform their factories (meaning blow up their factory and start from an empty floor). That would be tantamount to the time Elon said, “I think I’m going to build and EV company.” That’s how far behind they are- at least two decades.
