If Caesar wasn’t murdered, he would have definitely taken a 100,000-man army to Parthia and conquered it. Unlike the small Roman army destroyed and humiliated at Parthia, Caesar would have had the foresight and genius of arming his army accordingly against the Eastern mounted archers. The army sent there was only sized and armed based on Alexander’s army who conquered the east all the way to India. However, the Easterners of the years following AD- their army have developed their mobile mounted archers based on Mongol tactics and skills and have learned western warfare from their Macedonian conquerors and the Alexander’s Generals left there to rule. Julius Caesar could have adopted Roman army technology based on a newer opposition and perhaps conquered Parthia. Why am I convinced of his success? The way in which he laid siege of Alexia while fighting a second front behind them was a sign of his military genius.
