  7.  @katsapliareos  “to what degree do capitalist economies crash every 4-7 years on average? You're making it sound like capitalist economies fall apart after 4-7 years when in reality there are just dips in some markets despite the fact that capitalist nations continue to do just fine afterwards.” We just saw a massive crash because capitalism is incapable of dealing with a global pandemic. Capitalism and the capitalists had to be bailed out by public money to the tune of trillions of dollars. That is objectively not fine. If capitalism can not rebound from their “dips” without a massive infusion of money from public funds, than is that really “capitalism doing fine”? We had another wonderful crash back in 2008. Do you remember that? Remember how much public money was needed to “fix” the problems caused by the greedy capitalists? How was that doing fine? Ever heard of the “Great Depression”? Once again, capitalists failed and needed public money to save itself. If private ownership is not able to save themselves, than what good is private ownership in the first place? And are you looking at these dips from the perspective of someone already deep in poverty? What about the greatly underpaid wage slaves in “third world” countries? Thinking about it from their position? Or are you just looking at these dips from your own privileged position? “They've clearly been doing just fine for a lot longer than any socialist states that have ever existed.” How are you defining fine? What are your metrics? I named three crashes, out of many, where capitalism would have completely failed if it wasn't bailed out with public funds. Doing fine would require self-sufficiency, something capitalists love to tell people in poverty they need to learn to be. Maybe capitalists should take their own advice and stop taking government handouts? Than when capitalism can bounce back from one of its dips without government interference, than and only then will a single metric be filled to consider capitalist economics to be doing “fine” “Also the conspiracy theory that capitalist nations are the ones preventing socialist nations from succeeding is just that.” How is it a conspiracy theory? USA did genocide against Laos, Vietnam, Korea, and the Philipenes all to stop socialism. They invaded Cuba in whats called the “Bay of Pigs”. That failed and USA has had economy crippling sanctions placed on Cuba. To stop socialism. North Korea is also heavily sanctioned, to stop socialism. USA literally fought in the Russian civil war to overthrow the Bolsheviks. That was to stop socialism. After ww2 when we helped China rid themselves of the Japanese imperialists, we continued to take the side of the nationalists to beat Mao to stop socialism. In 1948 USA overthrew a democratically elected socialist leader in Costa Rica, to stop socialism. Would you like me to continue with this list, because its much longer? I can also include other capitalist nations doing the same kind of shit to stop socialism. So where are you getting the idea that its a conspiracy theory? “If all it takes is a capitalist nation to prevent your utopian ideas from succeeding then your ideas aren't all that great.” This doesn't make much sense. Do you think the fuedalists didn't try and stop the capitalists? We know they did because both the French and American revolutions were revolutions overthrowing the feudal systems they lived under. People in power will do anything and everything they can to stay in power. This is true for fuedalists and this is true for capitalists. So of course capitalists will do everything in their power to stop socialism, because socialism threatens the power of a minority of capitalists with the intention of giving the power over to the workers. “I'm not aware of details regarding the Baltic nation economies as they seem to be doing fine but regardless who said capitalism magically guarantees you'll do great?” If you're not aware of how the Baltic economies are doing, than how can you claim they are doing fine? That is called being intellectually dishonest. Lets talk about Ukraine before Russia invaded. Before the illegal and undemocratic disillusion of Ukraine was the powerhouse of the USSR economy, at times making up 50% of the entire GDP of the USSR. They had an incredibly diverse economy where they built everything from supercomputers to military equipment to agriculture. After the illegal fall of the USSR, Ukraine was thrust into poverty and has never recovered, seeing poverty rates as high as 45% with a very undiversified economy. Again, this is before the Russian invasion “You're free to do better. You might, you might not. Depends on many factors. The Balcan nations are definitely doing a lot better with capitalism”. You literally just said “I'm not aware of details regarding the Baltic nation economies” so how could you possibly know they are doing better now with capitalism? If you went to look up the data, and I urge you to do so, its very obvious none of them are doing better under capitalism. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H6Li6XyNLc&t=419s&ab_channel=Hakim This video goes over it and has every source in the pinned comments “Why would the dissolution of the USSR be democratic in the first place?” It amazes me how you will so confidently speak on these things while also admitting youre ignorant as fuck. “It wasn't a democracy to begin with.” Please, tell me in great detail the inner workings of the government of the USSR. If you can claim it wasn't a democracy at all, you should be able to tell me how their government worked and how there was no democracy. If you are going to argue its because there were unelected officials I will gladly point out that in USA the supreme court is fully unelected with lifetime appointments with the ability to throw almost any law out as “unconstitutional” even if its really not. Thats not democratic. In the USSR they were made up of worker councils that elected a representative to represent them at the “federal” level. The USSR had plenty of democracy. Claiming they didn't just shows your ignorance. “Neither was it's formation democratic. It was a violent takeover.” I mentioned them earlier, but the American revolution and French revolution were both capitalist revolutions and were both very violent. There was no democracy at that point. This is just you being a hypocrite. You also ignore that there isn't a single place in the world that capitalism spread to peacefully. “Having a good quality of life at some arbitrary stage in development doesn't mean you have a viable system long term.” A viable long term system wouldn't have economic crashes every 4-7 years where a massive amount of public money is required to save it. A viable long term system wouldnt see more and more wealth concentrated at the top during every single one of these crashes. It's almost as if the crashes are intentional to put more wealth and power into the hands of the capitalists (no really, thats true). “The health care system in my country was basically free and government subsidized which felt good temporarily until it fell apart because it wasn't sustainable.” Which country is that and can you give me more detail of how it fell apart? “The incentive structure didn't work long term.” I’m constantly told by capitalists that money is the only incentive. So are you claiming thats not true? “I'm sure you're the intellectual we need to make socialism work this time around. Clearly the rest of us are too stupid to twist reality the right way.” Wow, now insults “I used to believe in socialist ideas until I worked for the public sector long enough and saw the government from the inside.” You never believed in socialist ideas. The public sector IS NOT SOCIALISM. Socialism is when the means of production is controlled by the workers. A public sector in a capitalist nation objectively is not that. How could you believe in socialist ideals when you clearly don't know what it is and have never read a single page of Marxist theory? “Much like Thomas Sowell who was originally a Marxist and got hit with the ultimate reality check when he worked for the government.” Government is not socialism. So thank you for also telling me the Thomas Sowell doesn't understand socialism or Marxism either. Thomas Sowell, a libertarian, repeats myths created by enlightenment era philosophers who were trying to justify enclosure, colonialism, and imperialism. “Prehistoric Myths in Modern Political Philosophy” & “The Prehistory of Private Property” by Grant S. McCall and Karl Widerquist are two books you should read that will show you how truly foolish people like Thomas Sowell are. Will you actually read them? I’m going to guess the possibility is next to 0

  14. No one in this thread has asked for a source, and no I'm not going to scoure the web to find things to make internet retards like yourself happy. What are your sources for news from North Korea? How do you verify it? If you aren't capable of verifying it, why believe it? Why believe it when they have a terrible track record. There's even a Wikipedia page about how information about North Korea is unreliable and filled with sensationalist falsehoods. Take assassination's. Some South Korean tabloid will write a fake article about someone being assassinated in North Korea, and western media outlets will run with it without verifying it, then months later that very same assassinated person is pictured alive and well, but do the western media outlets write a correction? No But you likely believe that someone was assassinated by a piece of artillery even though that person was pictured alive later on. South Korea pays defectors up to $860k and defectors can get paid up to $12,500 for speaking gigs. So everything they say should be taken with a grain of salt, and the most famous one Yeonmi Park, has never once been able to keep her story straight. I bet you believed her story about everyone getting out and pushing a train. Funny thing about those satellite photos that show North Korea has no light, well we used the same technique to take photos of the USA, and it showed that USA didn't have light where we knew it did. Did you bother to look into the techniques they used to take that photo? And yes, North Korea is poor. That's the consequence of USA doing genocide against you and then having the most oppressive sanctions placed on you.
