Just think, if people voted for Bernie in 2016, Trump never would have been president in the first place

@patbrown463 "America is a Constitutional Republic not a democracy." A constitutional Republic is a form of democracy. Its a representative democracy, which is an incredibly weak form of democracy. Democracy is a very ambiguous term. The USA democracy was modeled after Athenian democracy.

This is not a Bernie Sanders movement. Town halls existed long before Bernie was even born. Its a normal part of democracy.
5
Town halls have existed long before Bernie did. I;m not sure why people are trying to give him credit for it when its a normal part of democracy.

Voted out by who?

@jcartdev "They have thrown lots of money at these programs, but they don't work." Its not that the programs dont work, they clearly do in other countries, its just that in USA, we have the Homeless Industrial Complex, where its better to profit off people who are homeless rather than actually helping them. This is the consequence of allowing a system that puts profit above people to continue to exist.

"We are losing our democracy to the billionaires" USA was founded as an oligarchy and to be anti-democratic. We then spent centuries fighting to get more people to be able to vote in a system purposefully designed to keep the rich in power regardless of how many people can vote. We have never had a democracy in the USA, the uber wealthy are just now removing the veil we have all been ignoring.

How are you saying no to fascism exactly? If you arent out in the streets protesting or rioting you are not saying no to fascism. If you are not educating yourself on political theory and history, you are not saying no to fascism. If you are not a socialist or further left, you are not saying no to fascism.
2
Yes, this is how USA has always functioned. USA was founded as an oligarchy and it never stopped being one.

@CraftyGrandmaDem "And it's the fault of the voters that voted for Trump." And its the fault of the people who didn't originally vote for Bernie. And its the fault of all the people who continue to think neoliberalism doesn't lead to fascism. Its the fault of all the Americans who were to comfortable to pay attention to what is happening. And its the fault of everyone who thinks voting is the end all be all of politics.

You say while literally using one of their services...

USA has always been an oligarchy, they just arent hiding it anymore.

@timwhite7127 Yes, lets ignore the fact that neoliberal policies lead to people falling for right wing populism. Just blame bigotry while ignoring that the neoliberal democrats are a huge reason for why we have Trump. You cant do lots of austerity and help the oligarchs rob the working class, and then expect them to not vote for someone who is telling them they can fix everything.
1
Can we stop with the half the country this, half the country that bullshit. 22.9% of the total US population voted for Trump. A little less for Kamala. There is no half the country supports Trump and half the country is against them. Many people just dont care.
1
Sure, but its actually neoliberalism that leads to fascism. You cant do heaps of austerity and then expect people to not fall for the right wing populist who claims he can change everything

@rozz481 What does Venezuela have to do with anything?
1
We need to build new political systems outside of the American one.

@merriebadham6701 "I did NOT vote for any of this." This is the problem, you think voting is the only thing that matters. Get out in the streets and be disobedient. Break shit. Do not follow the rules. Resist. If you arent actively fighting this, then you are a part of it. You know how many people didn't vote for Hitler?

@D.MichelleBoydston "not all of our country voted for him… I sure didn’t" This is the problem, you think voting is the only thing that matters. Get out in the streets and be disobedient. Break shit. Do not follow the rules. Resist. If you arent actively fighting this, then you are a part of it. You know how many people didn't vote for Hitler?
1
@adriannemalden8668 "And the entitled that were above voting." Yes, blame the people who dont vote and not the neoliberal order that was marching towards fascism. Blame the people who dont vote while you stay incredibly ignorant on political thought. You were to comfortable to bother to do this, and now you blame everyone else.
