The biggest selling point of HSR is getting people out of planes which are a massive strain on our environment. USA once built the worlds largest rail network because they understood it's a vector for growth. Claiming HSR won't work in USA is saying you hate our planet and want climate change to continue to ravage everything.

@agapp11able People seem to forget that in USA we built rails to nowhere to help stimulate growth in those areas but if China does it then it's bad.

Conventional rail should be neglected except for freight. The biggest selling point of HSR is to get people out of less efficient modes of transportation to cut down on emissions and slow climate change.

@Iamwolf134 Never ignored that. Just found it irrelevant to USA needing HSR to reduce air travel. Literally no one is saying HSR should be used in place of subways or shit. Can you show me where I did say that? Can you show me where I'm against any other forms of mobility that will reduce car travel? But we really need to fucking reduce air travel since that burns fuel directly into the atmoshphere

@Homer-OJ-Simpson Thats because China has a different building philosophy. Instead of waiting for housing to be needed, they build the housing and wait for it be be needed. Probably why they have virtually no homelessness
