We bombed Korea to smithereens. We bombed Vietnam to smithereens. We did genocide in the Philippines. None of that leads to willing allies. That is pure coercion through violence.

  2. Lol, the US has been putting bases where they don't belong for centuries. USA is king of imperialism and colonialism. Anything you complain about China doing USA has very likely already done it and worse.

  3. Yeah and what I think is really sad is that USA has a scorched earth plan in place if they think China is going to invade where USA will bomb every peice of taiwanese chip making infrastructure to stop China from getting it. Either way its not good for the people of Taiwan.

  4.  @nik48631  The really cool thing about the majority of humanities existence is that if you disagreed with how someone acts, you can just leave and join another group or start a new one. Conflict is a lot easier to avoid when people have the real freedom to just leave.

I also believe these things aren't a deterrent at all. The proxy wars show that. These are far more about domination than they are about deterrence. Its only deterrence for those living in the imperial core.
