I completely understand your frustration and anger with us mods. You made a few incorrect assumptions though:
1. I never ban anyone that disagrees with me, and never permaban anyone except bots. I know theres a lot of shitty mods, but not all of us are like that.
2. I don't want to close down our community until we have a valid replacement, because otherwise everyone will stay on reddit, it will just be slightly shittier, which is worse for the overall community that my subreddit is related it (of which this subreddit is the largest branch)
3. I would have done it if I could have been sure the others would have. But this was a shitty unorganized boycott with no leadership or discussion. Decentralized protests will never work, because the only power they have is to demonstrate that a large number of people can act as one.
Like you said, this protest would never have worked in the first place. Specifying the end date was idiotic. It should have also started right before the 3rd party apps were killed so the drop in traffic would have been much more severe. And now that Reddit has seen the outcome, we have even less power than we did before. Future protests will be even less effective. Reddit's gotten worse year after year even before this, so it's going to die soon anyway.
Either way, I'm a new fan of your channel and love your discussions and views, so please keep standing up for the little guys! (maybe help us be less stupid when organizing protests in the future)
