  1. Trying to cut through the noise...which there's a ton of on this topic. I love iTerm2 on macOS because I can simply create a freeform layout, close and restart the app, and everything was persisted and restored without a bunch of configuration, extra packages, etc. I want the tiling terminal for Linux that does this for me and looks good in Gnome. Terminator is a buggy, confusing mess. Tilix comes close but requires manually saving/opening layouts for restoring.
