You got it. I’ve been at it for 25 years and every few years there’s an evolutionary leap in our tooling which makes us more productive. Usually. It could also be argued that we’ve just added more tooling and complexity to fill that new productivity void. But I digress; AI isn’t revolutionary and it’s nowhere near replacing the analytical and creative prowess of real developers. It’s an excellent addition to our tooling and processes, and will lead to accelerated productivity and thus, more complex and innovative software. The people crying doom are the glut of junior/amateur devs with little-to-no skills, and corporate functionaries indulging in deep wishful thinking. Then there are the hype-mongers and attention-seekers in media who benefit from sensationalizing things. It’s far from over for us! Best days are ahead!
