release that they will be going out to check on more sites, but hire some great bodyguards for them, these guys try anything, the bodyguards can defend them with 'enthusiasm' and make sure these guys can never work in the industry again.

@maulerrw They could argue that he attacked them off-cam and then when on cam made it look like he wasn't the aggressor. The fact he is attacking him for the phone, means any argument along those lines is blatantly false.

@mbbb9244 Interesting, if the police saw that footage then they should not have accepted the self defence argument as it has no merit or basis in evidence; The primary motivation appears to be getting the phone/evidence of themselves bullying and physically assaulting the environmentalist and his son. Filming them in a state forest is perfectly legal (as is filming anyone in public). The envronmentalist should press ahead with charges regardless of the police, also a complaint against the policeman who decided it was self-defence should go ahea and an internal review or investigation should be started to see if there are any connections between him and the loggers or the logging org. While this is happening as to the seriousness of the possible crime (could be bribery, or possibly motivated by nepotism, but corruption of the law is the result) he should be suspended.

@mbbb9244 AH right, I misinterpreted what you said. Yes you are correct there is a lot of information we are not privy too, hence why I said there should be an investigation rather than outright charges laid for conspiracy. However the incident occurred on crown land and there are no barriers or signage up, which would preclude it being a 'work' site, also AFAIK the work site aspect doesn't take effect unless there are people actually actively working in the space (similar to why the roads people have to cover or remove speed change signage if there is no change to the road and they are not actively working). It's also evident there is no 'protest' happening (or at least not an organised protest, 2-3 people). Add in the factors of the video vs what the men claimed (dependant on evidence) and it looks really bad. Add in that the groups that do the logging there (I know them) are distinctly shady, for some work around Port Macquarie I know of 3 sep incidents when they cut down trees which had Koalas in them and one incident when they killed one (getting out of the grader and clubbing it with a shovel). So yeah, whilst it is possible that there is opposing evidence, given how demanding they were to get the footage, I suspect they are dodgy still. As for the police, there still needs to be an investigation to check that all procedures and evidence was taken into account when deciding not to pursue.
