  1. interesting about the pay of fire fighters being down to $14k per year, the ones in Sydney get ~$65k per year and do not have to attend fires (as they are dangerous!) a bloke I knew moved to Sydney and after he did the training down there, this is what he was paid (About 10 years ago) he is now on more and one guy in his unit had been there several years and had never once attended a house fire.

  3.  @goingbike  yeah ours are, lot of towns out there with only voluntary protection, should be the other way around, pay the guys out here the decent wage where the most GDP will be lost (if you have to run the calculus against cost to country) and make Sydney the voluntary situation. (or just pay them all)
