  1. given the shear amount of our Galaxy we have looked at without any detectable traces of life I'm afraid I sit with Asimov. The odds a space faring race would evolve during our specie's lifetime is so remote as to be implausible, and the odds they would be within contactable distance is also very remote. This is of course assuming our evolution is 'normal'
