  1. If that’s the goal , then using a general Tariff on all imports from targeting countries isn’t how to do it. Also be honest and say which industries in particular you want to develop and work with the other nations and develop a plan for how to make that happen. Why talk about fentanyl and making Canada the 51st state if those arnt the goals? If that is the goal then they’ve executed this about as poorly as possible.

  2. It is inflation. The definition that inflation is only an increase in the money supply is not how most economists define inflation - only those still hanging on to outdated monetarist schools for political reasons. Think Patrick got that part of the video slightly off.

  5. Great video , I’d push back a little on the part about how economists generally use the term ‘inflation’ however. While it may be true that that term is often misused , Milton Friedman’s monetarist views on inflation are very old fashioned and not the consensus view currently or definition used today. Monetarist views went out of fashion way back in the 80s , inflation is certainly not ‘always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon’

  6. What they do depends on a variety of factors , and it’ll vary across industries - but in many scenarios it would make no business sense to also raise their prices
