mind you sicily is only 9,927 mi² while the axis italians had 131,359 –252,000 personnel

so cuba is 5 times the size with military presence on par with what the axis had on sicily .... the US if the were really serious with the bay of pigs would need to commit at least 500,000 personnel to the bay of pigs to have any reasonable chance of succes....
