  1. they didn't rob. they provided a good or service that people wanted at fair prices their competitors in collusion with the media complex painted the carnegies/rockefellers/vanderbilts as robber barons. barons is a european nobility title which didn't even apply to these capitalists as they weren't european nobles to begin with as they grew up very poor. their competition were jealous they couldn't compete that is all. that would be like today jeff bezos competitors calling him a robber baron.
